Title: 136th Rendition of THE GAME
Post by: stinkfish on November 23, 2019, 06:45:51 am
Beat yale! Is it bad that I’m already drinking rum and coke? I’ll be hung over by halftime. :-\

I don’t want to talk about it.

I couldn't care less about the game but I thought for sure someone would bring up the protest.

The protest was annoying. Wasted almost an hour. And the Yale Bowl doesn’t have lights. Game finished almost in darkness. The best part was that there were students behind me yelling we support you! But they stayed in their seats.

For me, when protesters infringe upon others' rights it turns me off to whatever the protesters are trying to get support for.  This is currently happening at the university that I graduated from, and the administration is just letting it happen because they don't want to upset the protesters.  My response is to discontinue making contributions to the university; after over 30 years of faithfully giving every year.

I don't know if it's even possible to have a successful protest that doesn't inconvenience anyone.  I certainly can't think of any examples.

Phony protest. I think if all of those students really cared about Harvard’s and Yale’s fossil fuel consumption, that if they really wanted to take  a stand against something that they were repulsed by, that they would drop out of those schools. Now that would be a protest.

That isn't a protest that would make any difference except for the students. The school would easily fill those spots and not miss a beat.

Now that winter is upon us in the northeast I'm sure all those students are tucked warmly away in their beds, warmed by the fossil fuels that they are protesting against.
