Title: 2020 College Football Playoff
Post by: Spider-Dan on December 20, 2020, 04:23:04 pm
Notre Dame barely beats Clemson at home without their superstar QB.
They play again on a neutral site (with Lawrence back on the field) and ND gets totally routed.
And this supposedly qualifies ND for the playoff?

Meanwhile, Big 10 declares before their season starts that you must play 6 games in order to participate in the conference championship game.  Ohio State only played 5 games, in part because they had to cancel a game after a COVID outbreak in their own locker room.  But no worries, everyone: we'll just rewrite the rules on the fly to allow Ohio State to play in the conference championship so they can make the Playoff.  Gotta keep that money flowing!

This is why I hate college football.  Their method of determining a champion have very little to do with play on the field, and everything to do with who has the biggest TV contracts or the most fans.

It's a complete joke.

Can't disagree too much, but I will say that Ohio State is an elite team and if they played 2-3 more games, they would still be undefeated. The real argument is whether Texas A&M should be in over Notre Dame, I think they should but that money talks.

I assume Alabama will win 49-16 against them after jumping out to a 49-0 lead and the team just playing prevent defense for the whole 4th quarter.

4 teams just isn’t enough.  The bowls are boring and shitty.  16 team playoff would be killer.

8 is enough, I think.  That's every Power 5 champion, the two highest-ranked non-Power-5 champions, and the highest-ranked at-large.
