I feel like kicking is always an overlooked part of the game so I am glad we are addressing this, but we are giving him good money right after a career year. "The book" will tell you to never do that. If he repeats his 2020 performance, then money well spent. If not, then I guess it's basically a 2 year deal then. EDIT: It's a 5 year extension, not 4 years. I imagine the guaranteed money is out around Year 2 or 3 so cutting him after 2 seasons is probably still on the table if he sucks. If he keeps kicking like he did this year, well worth the money. Yeah, it may not be a textbook move to do, but the money is so small that even if we have to cut him by Week 4, we will get by. If he has a similar year like he did in 2020, then great for everyone.
