Title: TDMMC Fantasy baseball
Post by: bsfins on February 03, 2006, 11:39:39 pm
I just noticed that Yahoo Fantasy baseball,is now forming leagues...I'd love to get in a TDMMC league...(I promise not to complain...too much).

So this is just kind of a Feeler thread,to see if we can get a League.add your name,if I see 6-8 people. I'll go ahead and start a League,(or let someone else do it if they wish,(no biggie to me))

1.)Lil B.

Most definitely...I'd like to see us get at least 8, and maybe even 10 if we could get that many. The league was a blast last season!

1.) Lil B.
2) Sunstroke

it depends on the format.  who's setting it up?

I got my ass kicked last season, mostly cause I don't know baseball very well.  I'm already scheduled to be in one league, maybe 2.

Well,To answer your question Brian,However the majority wants...Right now,If raptor plays that 3 that have said they want to play...I don't have problem the way it was set up last year....If I start it,I'll do like the FFL,where I'll ask for suggestions on how the league is set up....So no one gets caught off gaurd.

I just wanted to get a jump on it,before everyone says...Well, I would but I'm already in 3 leagues...

Raptor Add your name to the List if you want to play...

I'm not going to go register a league till I get atleast 6 people....

If someone else wants to Comish the League,Be my Guest....

I After I got used to it last year,I loved it and had a Blast.It made Baseball season SOOO Much more enjoyable...Even though I got my Ass kicked...

So it looks like the differences between this year and last year are the addition of an extra active utility slot, an active pitcher slot and 3 extra bench slots. I like the expanded roster size, both active and bench.

Just curious...on the scoring categories for the pitchers, do we really need "both" ER and ERA? How much flexibility is there for changing scoring categories? Just my opinion, but I think that having on-base percentage and slugging percentage as categories would be better than BB's and triples (yes, I am still against triples).

Bring on baseball season!  ;D

Title: Re: TDMMC Fantasy baseball
Post by: bsfins on February 06, 2006, 10:13:00 pm
I didn't notice...Ok,I'll take out ERA...

I can have up to 15 Batting stats,and 15 pitching stats....

On base percentage,AND Slugging percentage both as seperate catagories.

OR

On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)?

Title: Re: TDMMC Fantasy baseball
Post by: Sunstroke on February 06, 2006, 10:23:30 pm

Thanks, Velvety_B... I really do like the straight swap of triples (a rare and insignificant stat) and BB's for slugging percentage and on base percentage, as two separate cats, rather than the combined OPS. I think on base percentage is a better catch-all for the BBs, and slugging percentage is a better indicator of extra-base capabilities than the flukey triples.

Thoughts from the rest of ya?

I like Triples.  It encourages you to avoid putting 10 power hitters in your lineup.  It gives value to the speedsters more than just for stolen bases.  If you don't have triples, you can't have doubles either, and should reduce it to just "hits"

I thought the speedsters also dominated the singles category, were better in runs and were equally matched with the power hitters in the doubles category due to the common "stretching a single" scenario. If you're really convinced that triples are worthy of a scoring category, then I'll (once again) back down from my anti-triples crusade...but I still think they're too flukey.

I have to start another thread now, because there is someone whose presence is required in this league...and methinks he just needs a gentle nudge.  ;)

The key is to set your list really well prior to the draft, if you know you aren't going to make it.

I'd love to see ya in this league, AZ...I enjoy battling ya in the fantasy realm.  ;D

I can manage that I am sure since we seem to have a month. Will it just pick from my list for me? I love baseball but I am not near as knowledgeable on it as I am football. I did play FBB about 5 years ago (Which I won and attribute to nothing more than blind luck) and always thought about doing it again. I think the main reason I want to this year is because, like you said Stroke, I had a blast playing FFB with those of you that played.

I'm not that knowledgeable in beaseball,but I have a lot of fun...I Watched alot more baseball lastyear.

IE dropping Andruw Jones with 3 Braves fans in the league..then watch him go lead the league in HR's...after watching him struggle so in the beginning of the year. ::) (inside joke from last year..)

If we could get 2 more for a nice round 10-team league, that would be great!

This will be year two for TDMMC Baseball...can my second-season title mojo (won titles in four of my six important FF leagues in second season: YJFF, So Fla Invitational, NAFFL, Sacred Order of the Pigskin) translate to the baseball diamond? Last year's loss in the semifinals left a bad taste in my mouth, but I learned my lessons about this league's scoring set. The mighty-mighty Pompano Padres will rise to the challenge in 2006!  ;D

I did my first FLB draft of the year last night...a little 8-team 5x5 roto league, mainly just to see where certain players were falling. I made a mistake when I mentioned it to Fau earlier...I told him I got Dontrelle in rd 11...and it was actually Buehrle I drafted there. Here's the team I drafted (draft slot in parentheses):

Crush, Blaze & Hurl

Manny Ramirez (4)
Miguel Cabrera (13)
Alfonso Soriano (20)
Jimmy Rollins (29)
Brad Lidge (36)
Carlos Delgado (45)
Rich Harden (52)
B.J. Ryan (61)
Morgan Ensberg (68)
Melvin Mora (77)
Mark Buehrle (84)
Julio Lugo (93)
Adrian Beltre (100)
A.J. Burnett (109)
Bobby Jenks (116)
Chris Ray (125)
Geoff Jenkins (132)
Torii Hunter (141)
Clint Barmes (148)
Michael Barrett (157)
Ryan Dempster (164)
Freddy Garcia (173)
David DeJesus (180)
Craig Monroe (189)
Scot Shields (196)

Not quite sure how I'd draft your team for you in the same java applet that I'm drafting in. I don't have any doubts that I could handle drafting two independent teams in the same draft, but I'm not sure how it could be pulled off in that applet. Any ideas?

If I did draft for you, I'd want a small blurb from ya with some players, mid-round and late-round types that you might have an interest in, as well as any personal preferences toward general draft strategies that you might have.

My Quick thoughts on the draft.....
Well,only 4.5 of us could make it to the draft....It kind of changed the way I drafted.

I said I really wanted to target a 6 players that I thought I'd do ok with....
yeah my Signiture gives 3 of them away. I almost pulled it a few days before the draft,to make it a litte less obvious..yeah right.

The Yahoo rankings kind of surprised me when I checked them the other night,after looking at afew different Baseball drafts I had looked at.

Every Player I put in the Que,kept getting taken...So I quit putting players in Que.

I felt my Major Knowledge weakness was Relief pitching,Secondbase,and Shortstop.
I Thought about a few guys that I'd be happy with...Chase Utley,Jorge Cantu, Felipe Lopez,Khalil Greene,and perhaps a well named closer Joe Nathan,Francisco Rodriguez,B. Lidge.After it wa all said and done I got none of those guys,some I forgot,or felt a bigger need somewhere else.

I got D.Lee,couldn't pass up Tejada in round 2...Look Here it comes back....I'll take Chase Utley...YES!YES!...Come On Baby...He's Qued and ready to go...Strokes turn...He takes Chase Utley....now's it my turn....

The Auto draft feature kind of scared me a little,some of the guy's I thought would be there for a round.The auto draft suddenly decided to fill that postition for 3 of the people who weren't there.All the sudden 3 pitchers/2ndbasemen/outfielders would get autodrafted exposing the guy that i wanted in the nextround...So I made a few panic picks....So I have some pretty sad outfielders.

After the draft I got the majority of the 6 guy's I really wanted.D.Lee,A.Ramirez,C.Zambrano,M. Buehrle or J.Garland,Missed Chased Utley,and a well known closer B. Wagner,J. Isringhausen.

So Even if I endup in dead last...I'm tickled pink with my team...I'm as happy as a Little girl...(Bad SNL skit reference).

Well, I had alot of fun at the draft...good luck this season to everyone. ;D

Opps...I forgot to mention this...a few hours after the draft...I looked over the guy's a I drafted based on last years numbers...alot of 300 hitters,with around 20-25 HR's..and a bunch of No base stealing Mofo's.... :D

Apparently we have quite a few owners in this league who think they can win no matter what players are on their roster...it's the only explanation for half the league missing the draft. I knew Maine couldn't make it, but what was up with the rest of ya?

No worries...I appreciated getting some of the deals I got.  Adrian Beltre in round 19 was particularly tasty!  ;D

I dunno. Whoever drafted my team might have done a little TOO good a job. I'm pleased with my squad. Was that you, Stroke, that put Cain on my roster?

I had zero control over any player you drafted, Maine...the computer did all the work. I do like Matt Cain though...and if he had slid to his normal draft slot, I might have added him to my bench in the late rounds. There really are only a few guys on your squad that I'm not drafting to a lot of squads. Belliard, Garrett Anderson, Taveras... Other than those guys, I like your squad. I was a little pissed when the comp gave you Peavy, but I was happy enough that Utley fell to the end of rd 3 that I didn't dwell too much on losing my favorite Padre.

Besides...I figured if I reeeeeally wanted to make a trade offer for the #2 SP on my list (Peavy), then having the #1 SP on my list (J-Santana) probably means I have a shot.

I'll swap you Peavy for Santana.

I thought the Cain thing was weird, but I remember you saying you wanted to learn more about prospects.  I was starting to get all proud of you thinking you put him on my roster to flex your new found prospects knowledge.

...I'm crushed now knowing it was the pc...

I'll bet ya would! One goes mid-late first round and the other goes early-mid third round. I'd need to get a little kicker on a second trade slot to make a Peavy-Santana trade work. I don't have any problem dealing Johan...I just need to get his relative value.

It's a long season...I can definitely see some negotiations happening.

LOL...I do know all about Cain, and have him on a half-dozen rosters as a high-ceiling late-round pitching prospect. so your pride in my prospect knowlege base isn't totally misplaced. ;-) I ended up grabbing Daniel Cabrera after the comp gave ya Cain. I do like Cain...but I like Cabrera under new PC Mazzone as well.

Well my team needs a little work as I have no idea who my catcher and 3rd basemen are. I like the fact that I got Clemens.....but is he going to play this year. So it needs work but hell it could be a lot worse for me not being there.

J. Giambi - (NYY - 1B)

A. Soriano - (Was - 2B)

I love all of your OFs, and both of your shortstops. I do think that, while Cantu puts up good numbers compared to the average player at his "regular" position (2B), I don't think he'll give you the same comparable performance levels at his "other" position (3B) when you put him up against the other 3Bs in the league.

I think the area that could possibly hurt ya the most is gonna be your bullpen. Armando is a walking injury waiting to happen, Borowski could easily lose the marlins closers job to Travis Bowyer, and Fuentes...well, he does still pitch in Colorado, where gravity is optional.

I hear ya...though I still like Bedard as well.

I just came away totally impressed the other day after watching Cabrera throw 4 innings of no-hit ball in the WBC. He was notching 97-98 with sick movement.

Thanks Stroke, I will be looking into the waivers to see about upgrading the pen. Also maybe picking up another 3rd baseman as a precaution.

^^^ Rock solid scary on offense and shaky as all heck at pitcher. With that many injury concerns, I'd have expected you to draft the best orthopedic surgeon available in the mid rounds. Kerry Woods...a lock for injury every year. Pedro...nursing a mysteriously chronic toe injury. Beckett...can develop a disabling blister just by opening a jar of peanut butter. Millwood has missed 15 starts over the last two seasons...

Still...your offense can probably keep you competitive even if you lose several starting pitchers.

Wow...offers from me, Lil_B and AZ? Raptorsfan is getting full court pressed by the local chapter of Overpayers Anonymous.

In the interests of disclosure<g>, I think I gave a pretty high offer. At least I gave an offer that I'd accept myself if the rosters were reversed. I proposed Bobby Abreu, Felipe Lopez and Francisco Liriano for Manny, Mark Mulder and one of his bench scrubs (that will go immediately to waivers, should he accept the deal).

I expect big things from my backup SS (Crosby), so I thought I could afford to deal Lopez for the slight upgrade from Abreu (#11 on my overall list) to Manny (#6)

Wow,I wish I had Manny (and didn't want him) to accept that offer....I guess in the fun of disclosure..I offered...
B. Clark
D. Eckstein
P. Feliz
R. Sanders
D. Erstad
C. Politte

Or pretty much anyone but My Cubbies....

I thought about this..the othernight...In Fantasy football,I pretty much avoid anyone in the AFC east like the Plague...But in Baseball...I want all players I like ,and want all my Cubbies...I guess that's my Fantasy Baseball weakness.

Title: Re: TDMMC Fantasy baseball
Post by: bsfins on April 03, 2006, 07:41:22 pm
There is only 1 point available per stat....
Stat catagories being...
R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, K, AVG, OBP, SLG, W, CG, SHO, SV, ER, K, WHIP

So at the end of the week..if you hit 7 doubles,and your opponant (JTex,this week) hits 6 doubles...you get a point....

Does that help?

(http://xs75.xs.to/pics/06142/Statline.jpg)

The Catagories that are in bold,are who's leading in that catagory...You are leading in K's...you haven't had any batters strike out...and jtex has had 1 K...so you get a point...

The stats will be updated through out the week.....

Brady Clark has had a gimppy knee since the start of the regular season

The past 2 days
Aramis Ramirez 3B - Butt Muscle - Day to day
Aubrey Huff 1B,3B,OF - Sprained knee - on the 15 day disable list
Jeremy Hermida OF  - Tight Hip flexor - Day to Day
Morgan Ensberg 3B - Staph infection didn't make the trip to SF,Luckily it was rained out
Now Dumped
Brad Wilkerson 1B,OF - Sore foot out till atleast Friday -day to day

You're tooooo fast, Lil_B!  I was just coming up here to post it...and to tell Joe "Good trading with ya."

I gave up a good bit of talent there, but feel I've upgraded my 1B slot with Ryan Howard and my C slot with Victor Martinez.

I usually preach against having three players from the same squad (Which I had already with Dunn-Lopez-Freel), but somehow Abreu-Utley-Howard doesn't bother me too much.  I just want to see the fightin' Phillies score 8-10 runs per night. Cleveland too, since I'll have a trio of Tribesmen in there most of the time (Hafner-Martinez-Blake)  ;D

Hopefully my revamped pitching staff will be able to match my offensive production at some point.

Title: Re: TDMMC Fantasy baseball
Post by: Sunstroke on April 25, 2006, 04:14:18 pm

As an afterthought...one more added perk to this trade: Since I dropped Shawn Green and traded one more than I received, it opened up two roster slots, so I could re-sign Adrian Beltre and sign my favorite young rookie, Josh Barfield (triples-steals-runs-singles monster). to go with my "other" favorite rookie infielder, Hanley Ramirez. Hopefully Barfield or Beltre will help make up for losing Freel's steals.

GO PADRES!!

AZ brought out the industrial strength lumber last night...5 of his players went yard. So, I get to battle back from behind this week. No worries...this is a squad that can put up stats at an alarming rate when they get into that groove.

Still...AZ isn't the team that I'd want to "have to" work from behind against. Too much power on offense...kind of like my own squad.

AZ ... Good battle this past week. You knew that someone had to luck out a win against ya at some point this season...glad it could be me. If someone had told me that I would be getting almost zero production from Bobby Abreu against you, I'd have told them I have no chance of winning. Was happy to see the rest of my squad pick up Abreu's slack.

Pats2006 ... You get your first taste of Padres hospitality next week. Enjoy your time on top of the standings, because all you are doing is keeping our rightful place nice and warm for us.

Lil_B ... For the second straight weekend, my apologize for San Diego's rough treatment of the Cubbies. The bright side...you don't have to face San Diego again this season.

~~~
Who's Your Padre? is extremely pleased to welcome the newest member of our pitching staff, Cole Hamels, who was brought up from fantasy AAA league this week and will slide into the #4 spot in our rotation behind Santana, Hudson and Escobar.
...edited because I just saw the trade go through...
Atlanta, it was good trading with ya. I think I once again overpaid a little bit to get two players I really like (Bay and Nathan), but I think I have the depth to make it work...especially with Hamels coming aboard. It makes Hudson a little more expendable.
Sauce me up and put me on the spit... Alk3hol opened up the industrial sized can of whoop-ass on me in day one of our matchup. I only had 6 hitters with games, but three of those (Hafner, Victor and Casey) had their game cancelled by rain. Alk3hol's fellas saw the opening and pounced with both feet... Seven players active, and they ALL went off... 14 of 29, 12 singles a triple and a dinger. 9 runs and 7 RBIs on a short schedule day. Turn that spit, I'm a'gettin' cooked!
We Padres have our work cut out for us in this one...no bout a doubt it.  I do like this offense's ability to pump stats in a hurry though, so I think we can turn things around. I just need Pronk to be healthy and mother nature to keep her wet self out of my affairs. ;)
Yesterday,I put in Brandon Phillips,for Aramis Ramirez,and left him there today.Today,Aramis Ramirez has already hit 2 HR's against Contreas...Damn my luck....
I have to admit,I was sort of seceding to loss this week,figuring I was just going to get run over by Pats....I'm happy to see my team actually make an effort to comeback....I know al Pats pitchers pitch Saturday,so my beating has to begin....
Nice week. I am back in first!!
Nice week. I am back in first!!
Enjoy your temporary lodging on top of the standings, Mafia man...The Padres are coming for you to take what is rightfully ours. First place.  Through the first seven weeks, no squad has taken more than 8 points against us in any matchup yet...and it isn't going to happen this week either. ;)
GO YOU PADRES!!
We play an 18 point system. You can have 4 points...I'll take most of the other 14, and we'll call it a week. :-)
It's early, but I did like what my short-handed team put up on opening night. We did pretty well tonight too...but your bats really woke up, so I expect you'll be closer come morning. I was kind of hoping you'd just forget that you had Griffey on your bench and go with Luis Gonzalez all week. ;)
Holy cow...talk about a little afternoon delight. My Cleveland Indians trio of sluggers (Hafner, Martinez and Blake) played a matinee game today, and the three of them combined to go:
6 for 12, 3 singles, a double, 2 homers, 6 runs scored and 8 RBI's.
If all Indians fought that fiercely, the white man would have gone to the reservation instead... ;)
Yes good week so far for you. Lets see what I can do. I had to see how Griffey was going to do comming off the DL. I am starting Mike Lowell at 3rd because he's been on fire. Chipper Jones just came off the DL also. See how he does tonight.
I am getting my ass whooped!! :'(
The score looks a bit wider than it actually is. At least 10 categories are close enough that a good weekend push from your hitters could turn things around easily.
Or, on the flip side<g>, a big weekend push from MY hitters and things could get very damned ugly for you.  I've let my team know that I'd really enjoy seeing an ugly finish. ;)
Don't get me wrong though...I'm not counting any chickens with hatchets over here. I recognize the offensive potential that has had your squad at or near the top of the standings all season. I look up and down your roster and I see a whole lot of pop just looking for a weasel. I'd prefer you keep that box closed until, say...Monday?
Here's your opportunity, Pats2006... Five of my boppers went 0-fer at the plate tonight, including all three of my Indians.  :'(  If you're going to make a move to cut my lead down a bit, this is definitely it. That said, my pitching came up aces again tonight, with Liriano and Nathan throwing 6 scoreless (and important in our case, low WHiP) innings, and likely locking up the wins and saves categories.
Good luck this weekend, chief... ;)
Should be interesting to see how our final score pans out, Pats2006...but the standings definitely get a nice shake-up this week. The top team (you) is losing large and #2 through #5 (me, AZ, CF, Maine) are all winning big. Actually, both CF and I have the chance to match or break your impressive record of 14 points in a week that you set in week 1. Regardless of the final, it looks like I get my first crack at the top of the standings...let's see how long I can hold on to it. ;)
As hot as my squad is right now, the hottest team in the league the past two weeks has got to be CF...who just happens to be my opponent this next week. I'd wish you luck, CF, but I really hate lying to my friends. I'll wish both of our squads good health...zero injuries for either squad this week.  ;D
Thanks for the honesty Stroke. That's got to count for something.  ;)  The truth is my team has been hit or miss this year. I've bounced all over the standings so we'll have to see who shows up this week. Carpenter is probably not going to see any action for the Cards but other than that, I hope for no more injuries to either team!
Title: Re: TDMMC Fantasy baseball
Post by: Sunstroke on May 30, 2006, 02:55:09 pm
I noticed that the Cards were calling up Reyes again from AAA to cover some starts...any idea how long Carpenter is headed to the DL for?
Regardless of Carpenter...this week should be a battle for the ages. I need to beat your squad down though... As a claustrophobic, I need a little bit more breathing room at the top before I can really get comfortable. ;)
Also...would someone PLEASE beat the TreeFroggz? Maine hasn't lost a matchup in 6 weeks, and he's starting to make me a wee bit nervous.
On a separate note...if anyone needs OF help, I have some solid hitters available. Going from most valuable to least (imo), I am putting Bobby Abreu, Coco Crisp and Jeff Francoeur on the trade block. Looking for pitching mainly, or maybe combine one of those guys with one of my SS's for an upgrade at that position.
Joe Tex ... Good trading with ya.
I am still a little in shock that the heart of our offense, Travis Hafner, won't be with us any more, and losing our best closer and second best starter means I go back to waivers to try and rebuild our pitching staff...again, but at least my offense is about where I think it needs to be.
Now, "hopefully" Young will do what Bay did...explode immediately upon hitting the Padres roster.
I have no idea which offer you're talking about...but I can flip it and say the same thing about players I trade away. I trade Hafner to Joe and he goes off for a grand salami and 6 RBI's. I trade Felipe Lopez...and he pops out of his recent funk to go 4 for 5.
Your Cubbies provided all the pop last night, Lil_B...but I'm thinking that the chi-town bats will cool down a little as the week goes on. If not, I may have to talk to the MLB schedule maker and ask if we can slip in another quick 3-game Padres-Cubs series for this week. ;)
Traditional wisdom says that you can't win a fantasy league with a rookie-heavy roster.
Hanley Ramirez, Kevin Youkilis, Freddy Sanchez, Francisco Liriano, Jered Weaver and Cole Hamels think the Padres can beat conventional wisdom (and whoever's on the other side of the boxscore) to do that this season. These aren't normal rookies...these are sandlot monsters who just happen to be first year players.  Who will step up to knock the Padres' wunderkinds back down to earth?
Thanks, Pats...I'd added him in some other leagues the past week and figured I'd better find a place for him in this league before someone else put the scoop on him. I'd been watching a lot of the Pirates games lately because of Jason Bay, and it seemed like Freddy was hitting the hell out of the ball every single game. He's a scrappy little sucker!
Like all players though...Freddy hit the trade block the moment he arrived at our clubhouse. If you feel like offering up a pitcher better than the ones I can find on waivers, I'd have no problem dealing him to ya.
After this week, we will be halfway through our regular season. Currently we have a tie at the top of the standings between myself and Boston Mafia. AZ is 2.5 games back and CF is 6 back.
It sure does look like 5 of the 6 playoff spots have teams eager to jump right into them (add Maine to the four teams listed above), and I see a massive dogfight down the stretch for the 6th and final playoff spot.
Would someone please slap Boston Mafia down a little bit? I don't face him again until week 17, and it seems like I'm the only team who's been able to "really" handle him at all so far this season.
I'd been picking him up off of waivers in other leagues as a spot starter...I'm not sure that his 5.61 era and low K/ip rate really give him much trade value at this point. If you need to drop him to waivers to pick up a better starter, I'm guessing he'll still be there after waivers clear.
Speaking of trades though, raptors...did you ever take a look at the offer I sent for Cabrera last week? If you're not looking to deal him, let me know and I'll pull the offer and try going after someone else.
Raptorsfan...in case you were focused too closely on the Marlins broom action to catch what "the rest" of the baseball world has done to completely fukk up your Sunday sports, allow me to catch you up to speed.
You had to be feeling pretty good about your Maine Gladiators when you woke up this morning... You had a ridiculous 11-3 lead over the juggernaut Padres squad with only one day to go.
I woke up, not feeling bummed out about that score, but a little aggravated by it. We were fairly close in most of the categories we were losing, but needed to have good production across the board if we were going to have any comeback chance. I posted the following smack line on my team page whilst sipping my coffee:
"Down 11-3 going into Sunday action...need another Padres monster finish to flip this."
You see...last day heroics are something that Who's Your Padre? know well. We've unleashed so much hell on our opponents on Sundays this season that the Vatican has declared our existence as evil. Ask J-Money...I stole 5 points from him on the final day. Ask Lil_B... The Padres come up big in the late innings, period.
Especially today...on Padres Day.
Well, so it is posted...so it shall be done. My sleeping-giant lumberjacks woke up and broke out the big axes...
David Wright: 3 for 4, HR, 2 runs, 5 RBIs
Ryan Howard: 2 for 4, 2B, HR, run, 4 RBIs
Michael Young: 5 for 5, 2B, HR, 3 runs, 3 RBIs
Chase Utley: 2 for 5, 3 runs, RBI
Jason Bay: 2 for 4, 2B, HR, run, RBI
Bobby Abreu: 1 for 2, 2 walks, run, RBI
...with Youkilis, Crisp and Francoeur yet to hit the field tonight.
OK...I took care of my side of the boxscore, but I still needed you to choke mightily. When I saw that 5, count-em, F-I-V-E of your starters...weren't starting (Rios, Delgado, Konerko, Molina, Hillenbrand), I understood that the stage was set for the Gladiators' collapse. So far today, Gladiators' bats have gone 0 for 11.
You still have 2 players remaining (Manny and Renteria), but you no longer have that 11-3 lead. While your team was wondering how that chicken bone got lodged in your trachea, I swiped 8 of your 11 points, and 1 of the points we were tied in.
I'm now up 12-3 after the most insane Sunday massacre of the year. Manny and Edgar aren't going to be enough...
(edited for atrocious grammar and because Young actually went 5 for 5)
9 Hitters: 21 for 36, 6 HRs, 3 doubles, 14 runs, 23 RBIs, 3 steals. (.583 BA, .634 OBP, 1.166 SLG)
3 Pitchers: 3 wins, 20.2 innings, 3 earned runs
Sure wish my team could do that once or twice every week...
Ensberg is having a good year. I was not relly using Fielder much as I have Giambi and I wanted a new 3B option. I had no backup at that position. He really wanted Dye in all the trade banter we had going back and forth and I am hoping this move will help him some as well. I am not really hurting for power and I did not lose a whole lot in this case. It may seem like I took a raw deal but but I think it was ok. I guess only time will tell in this case. I was happy to finally pull of a deal with B as we have been going back and forth for quite some time.
No worries at all, AZ...I may look at it as a hair uneven at this point, but anything can happen in the world of baseball.  Dye and Fielder could get hurt (knock on wood against) and Eric Byrnes could have an MVP caliber 2nd half of the season.
Personally though...since I feared your offense like few others in this league, anything you do to take that fear down a notch is greatly appreciated. ;)
I thought it was kind of funny that the players I had traded to Joe were directly responsible for Joe's kicking my butt the first three nights this week. Travis Hafner went off, Felipe Lopez was ripping HRs and stealin' bases, Verlander pitched a shutout, etc..., while the guys I got from Joe were kind of underperforming. Glad to see that Ryan Howard and my Red Sox duo of Youk & Crisp turned it on last night to give me a lead halfway through the week. Now we just need to hold on to it...
