Title: Saban gambled...and lost
Post by: NoFish on March 17, 2006, 06:28:35 pm
Released Gus thinking he'd get him back as a backup with less money....WRONG!..Gus signed with Rams today. Still no backup QB.   :o

Let's see...he gambled and lost the equivalent of $10 at the slot machines (a backup QB) after winning the equivalent of the grand prize at the World Series of Poker (Culpepper)...

I'm sure he's inconsolable right now.

Funny,  didn't know it was such a big deal,  first time I've ever heard so much "OMG we have no backup QB"  talk.  Whoever we land (veteran) it'll be ok.  Big deal, we lost Frerotte,  Miami can find another Frerotte anywhere.

But right now:

Maybe that's because there's every reason to believe that whomever we have as a backup will be our starting qb on opening day.

This thread is quite simply a fins hater blatantly trying to stir the pot ::)

Like anyone gives a crap that Gus is gone.  Most of us are glad to see him go.

Like I said in the same post,  whoever we land (veteran I'm sure)  we'll be ok.  Gus was a career backup anyway,  so what's the diff. on opening day?   :P

This pot needs to be stired once in a while, what with all the gushing over a team that can best be described as mediocre!

See the couldas, shouldas, wouldas every year and yet they, DUL-phins, sit home year after year watching playoffs. Same thing this year...Saban will save us...Daunte will lead us to the promised land...yada..yada...yada!! Guess we should be getting our orders in now for Super Bowl tickets.   ::)

Sort of like the fans of the OTHER 31 teams in the NFL?  Go move to another NFL city and tell me how true fans of their teams think....  shoulda's, coulda's, woulda's all around. IT'S CALLED BEING A FAN!!!!  I'ts called faint hope.  I've lived in 2 NFL cities,  and it's the same there as it is here.  You just love talking sh*t like all the other haters just to hear yourself speak.

So, please, oh wise one, tell us who your team is.

I think I'd rather not know.  He probably CHOSE a recent winning team.

He's a Jets fan alright.  I know who this NoFish guy is now.  Hey Lou, let's just say the FBI is looking for you.  Maybe I should introduce you to Denver Bronco.  You two being cellmates would make for a nice touch for the rest of us.... and probably prevent either one of you from getting cornholed.

And another typical, "brilliant" remark from a DUL-phin fan.  ::) Didn't dodge question MaineDolFan, just didn't think it was worthy of a reply! What in the world has who I root for have anything to do with anything...just know it's certainly NOT the DUL-phins or Jets, or any AFC East team, contrary to what someone else thinks he knows and just posts mis-information here just to see himself in print!!! Only one person on this forum knows the answer and that's ALL that matters!

Don't believe everything that's posted, just because some dork has nothing better to do but try to cause problems for someone else! Have a nice day   ;D

PS....Wasn't that Nov. game nice to watch?  Boo Hoo   :'(

NoFish, that Nov 1, 2004 game wasn't the worst loss in Dolphins history...... that one would be the 62-7 loss to Jacksonville in the 1999 playoffs.  And the Nov 1 game also wasn't the most demoralizing loss in Dolphins history.  That one would go to the 40-37 overtime loss to the Jets in 2000 after the Dolphins had a 30-7 lead going into the 4th quarter.

First off,  give that elementary school "Dul-phin" thing a rest,  it's old.
Second, mediocre?  Let's pull up some stats and see who graces the top of the list of winningest team in NFL history.

OK - So let me just get this straight...

You refuse to let out the big secret, which tells me you're ashamed of who you root for, because:
a) they suck
b) you just jumped on the bandwagon last week

You just want to come on here, badger the fans of the team who this board is about, and not offer any information at all.

We welcome fans of other teams all the time, but they're FANS of other teams.  If you're just here to talk shit and stir the pot, what value do you really add to these discussions?

I post here in this section (Anti-Fins Chat) becasue we non Phin fans are allowed to! That's what this section is for, isn't it?  WHO I'm a fan of is of no importance. From what I've seen here, as much or more value than some other posters add.

-------------

Best win % is meaningless without the bottom line...CHAMPIONSHIPS! Isn't THAT what they ALL play for?

1970-1985 a team to be reconed with: 12 of their 21 playoff berths in 16 years..impressive. 1970's was their best decade.
They were the Dolphins then.

After 1985 it was all downhill.  Cry

1986-2005 = 9 playoff berths in 20 years and that pal = MEDIOCRE, at best!! Now they are the DUL-phins. Live with it.

Playoff berths: 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001

So now you fall back on the last time they actually WENT to the Super Bowl to try to win the argument.  Weak dude, weak.

Broken record, son.

If I've pegged you right, you sound like 90% of all sports lemmings;

Let's see:
Losing in the Super Bowl = mediocre
Not going to the Super Bowl = mediocre
Not having the most Super Bowl wins = mediocre
Missing the playoffs more than making it = mediocre
Losing in the playoffs = mediocre
(and yours, my personal favorite)  Not going to the Super Bowl "in a long time" = mediocre

Congratulations SF, Dall. and Pitt.  You are above average (unless you haven't been to the SB in a while)  In that case, Conrats Pitt.  You are the elite. (Dall. 10 yr drought, SF 11 yr. drought)

whatever, I'm done with you...    ::)

Thank you Dave. I appreciate that. Don't know why a few people got their shorts all in a knot for someone using the appropiate section of the forum for posting anti-phins thoughts. I don't appreciate people posting lies about me or posting messages saying I said something, when I didn't! Then, when I try to defend myself I get blasted for it. Don't mind that so much as long as I can reply to them, but when it's done by a mod, that's a little much, especially when I couldn't reply. Mods should NOT be posting any attacks on members for expressing their thoughts. They should be keeping control of the board, and if things start to get out of hand, what with name calling, etc., post a "heads up" to all to cool it. It seems that most of my posts have been in defending myself. Shouldn't have to be that way. Personnal attacks have no place here or on any forum. Some of you would do well to remember that.

And that's TDMMC policy, and I can respect it.  Phinatics and Finheaven, on the other hand, don't have such policies and don't take too kindly to fans of other teams talking smack on their sites.  According to Doug (The Phinatic), he had one dude register with the user ID "TomBradyIsGod", and he banned him before the guy could make one post.

The flaming has gotten excessive here lately, and it seems that this thread was rapidly heading in that direction.

I have been quick on the lock trigger to try to decrease that.

Apparently, I'm guilty myself, of getting out of control.

My posts to you, NoFish, were mainly in attempt to try to provoke rational thought and reasonable debate in this thread, to bring it away from personal attacks.  Your continued "skirting" of my questions (i.e. "what does it matter who I root for?") frustrated me.

Remember, I'm a fan first, too.

I often forget that, as a moderator of these forums, I need to control myself.  Thanks for the wake-up call.

So - maybe someday, you can let us know something about you, instead of just bashing the Dolphins all the time.

I think that's wrong.  Your username can be whatever it wants, as long as it's not "FuckAllDolphins" or something.

Believe me, I've been constantly warned about posting anti-fins smack on the Dolphins Discussion, long before guys like Tommy and Denver_Bronco, and even before this Anti-Fins Chat was an option on TDMMC.  But TDMMC having an anti-fins section makes so that it doesn't say "We're Dolphins Fans, and if you disagree with us in any way or have a different opinion or like a different team, you are not welcome here and we want you gone".  This isn't a cult or anything - fans from all 32 NFL teams are welcome here - we even have people who post here who don't even watch sports.  Diversity at it's finest.

Phinatics does not have an anti-fins section.  We are an equal opportunity fan board.

Do we want this place overrun with Jets and Pats fans?  Not at all.  But, until this happens, the policy is to keep all the hating in this forum.  That's why its here.

This is where Pats and Jets fans can talk smack about the Dolphins, or any fans.  As long as you're not "Hey idiot fish fans, screw you all you losers".  That will get you banned.  But stuff like "Your team will lose to the Pats this season", while presumptuous, is allowed.

Let's sum up "NoFish" posts:

1)  Call Miami "Dul-Phins."
2)  State something along the lines of "another brilliant remark by the peanut gallery."
3)  Refuse to state who he / she (I'm thinking she) roots for, but doubles back and states it's not important.  Yes, NoFish, I've caught on to the hints you've dropped along the way in regards to your team.

I think I've covered the bases there, yes?  Bottom line, it would appear that NoFish posts will be filed in the "don't bother reading" catagory.  Same ball of yarn each and every time.  Yawn.

Someone that doesn't like Miami!  Gasp!  Yep, never read any posts like that before.  Quite original, indeed.

Gosh, I better not root for Miami anymore.  They are dull.  What have I been thinking all these years?   ::)

I thought the pessimist delegation did that in every other section of the site as well...which is why I get so chaffed when I go with a positive spin in an anti-fins thread and get jumped on because "this is where we can cry and whine...how dare you be optimistic in here!"

You pessimists can lend lips to my backside...if you can whine in my channels, I can play the optimist in yours.

Gosh, I better not root for Miami anymore.  They are dull.  What have I been thinking all these years?   ::)

You can add refering to our new QB as Daunte Cul-Pecker to that.

1986-2005 = 9 playoff berths in 20 years and that pal = MEDIOCRE, at best!!
9 playoff appearance in 20 years is mediocre?  Let's take a look at some of these other "mediocre" franchises in the same timespan:

DAL- 9 appearances
NE- 9 appearances
NYG- 8 appearances
WSH- 7 appearances
OAK- 6 appearances

Wow, outstanding point you have made.  So from 1986-present, based on your criteria, MIA is as mediocre as DAL or NE were in the same timespan.  Excuse me while I cry in shame.
