Everyone Laughed when The Tuna said he will NOT give JT away and even though JT sabotaged his chances himself by publicly calling a Press Conference.......The Tuna Got a Sweet second Rounder for him and a future 6th.

Believe in the Tuna.  He can even bring Dan Marino back for a work out as far as I'm concerned........Belive in the Tuna.  At least he didn't give up any picks to try him out, thats more then I can say for the last few Admins.  Roll Eyes

So what? They are trying him out.  What do they have to lose? Nothing. Exactly.

Sparano: There's nothing new on Quincy Carter

By Harvey Fialkov
Sun-Sentinel.com

1:54 PM EDT, August 1, 2008

DAVIE - Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said that Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage would be split up equally between the three quarterbacks and there was nothing new to report on the status of free-agent quarterback Quincy Carter.

"It was just a tryout,'' Sparano said of Friday's tryout with Carter, who played for Sparano and Dolphins V.P. Bill Parcells at Dallas before drug allegations led to a four-year hiatus from the NFL.

"He looked fine. He threw the ball well and did some things. … There are no immediate steps. We brought him in for a tryout. We wanted to see where he was. We flipped over a rock. That's where we are.''

Sparano said that although rookie quarterback Chad Henne still makes some college mistakes, he's been impressed with his poise.

"He doesn't say a whole lot that way but I like his presence in the huddle,'' Sparano said of the second-round pick out of Michigan. "He seems kind of relaxed out there. It'll be interesting to see him when the game is on. I know this guy has played in bigger crowds than we'll play in front of.

"He's played in front of 100,000 people out there in critical situations so I'm kind of interested to see how he handles a game when it's really moving as fast as we try to prepare him for.''

MENTAL ERRORS ABATING

Sparano was impressed by the lack of mental errors in Friday morning's practice, which was strictly dedicated to special teams.

"That was really a good practice for us,'' Sparano said, adding that Keith Davis, Charlie Anderson, Reggie Torbor and Edmond Miles stood out. "They take it serious. … Those guys understand. They get it.''

LANGFORD IMPRESSES SPARANO

Sparano said defensive end Kendall Langford has made the most improvement of all the rookies, particularly over the five-week period in which the veterans were on vacation while the rookies remained at the facility.

"He's probably made the greatest in the offseason program when the rookies were here by themselves,'' Sparano said. "Now I'm watching a guy play with his hands, and playing stronger at the point of attack. He's got a lot of things to work on seeing some of the reads for the first time but I've been impressed with him.'' …

Sparano added that he needed at least, "three more solid days of install,'' before the playbook was emptied. He planned on doing that early next week before tapering off for Saturday's exhibition home opener against the Bucs.

RILEY OUT

Recently acquired tackle Rueben Riley missed the morning practice because of blisters on his feet. …

Rookie tackle Daren Heerspink returned to practice after missing a few sessions with a sprained knee. …

Sparano: For now, Dolphins not doing anything with Quincy Carter

By EDGAR THOMPSON
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Friday, August 01, 2008

DAVIE — Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said Friday that quarterback Quincy Carter's workout on Thursday "was fine," but the club is not taking any further steps with him at this time.

"We wanted to see where he was," Sparano said of Carter, who has been out of the NFL since 2004. "We flipped over a rock."

Sparano had said he is pleased with the quality of the Dolphins' quarterback competition. But that didn't stop Sparano's boss - Bill Parcells - from bringing in for a workout a former player with a troubled past.

Carter, who guided Parcells' first Cowboys team to the playoffs in 2003, was at the Dolphins' training facility on Thursday. Sparano said Carter threw well.

Speaking before Thursday's practice, Sparano said the decision to bring in Carter, who has struggled with drug abuse, does not mean the team is unhappy with its current quarterbacks: Josh McCown, John Beck and Chad Henne.

"I have been pleased with the three quarterbacks and what they've done," Sparano said. "The competition has been really good. It just means we have to do our due diligence on players that are available."

McCown said it also was a chance for coaches to up the ante in a competition that's been a dead heat during the first week of camp.

"They're trying to create as much competition as they can," McCown said. "That's the environment they're trying to create because they think it will make people play better."

Given Carter's recent history, there's no guarantee he would be able to ignite the competition.

In 2003, Carter led the Cowboys to a 10-win season during his third season as a starter. But since then, he's started only three NFL games - in 2004 for the New York Jets - and had failed stints in the Canadian Football League and the af2 indoor league.

Each ended because of drug issues for Carter, who was charged with possession of marijuana in 2006 and '07. On Nov. 30, 2007, he came to West Palm Beach to seek treatment at the Hanley Center, a drug-rehabilitation facility.

Last winter, following several years of disappointment, Carter sounded like a man who knew he was running out of chances.

"I need to work on myself and I also want to get back into the NFL," Carter told The Palm Beach Post in December. "Ultimately I want to begin a new life and do the right thing."

Sparano, who was not available to the media following the Carter workout, declined to comment on the state of Carter's personal life. But Sparano, a Cowboys assistant from 2003-07, did recall his one season with Carter in Dallas.

"Quincy was athletic. He can move, and he can make some plays that way," Sparano said. "He kept plays alive a little bit early on in our process. That's important for us.

"He was an intelligent guy and a pretty good motivator."

Yet the Dolphins' interest in Carter, who last was listed at 6-foot-2, 212 pounds, is more about the team's issues at quarterback than Carter's future in the NFL.

"It shows the team is unsettled at the quarterback position," said Mark Schlereth, an ESPN football analyst. "There's a huge question mark. It's a franchise that's looking. But it's looking at all positions."

The Dolphins also have been considering wide receiver Terry Glenn, a 34-year-old, 12-year veteran who played for Parcells in Dallas and New England.

Glenn played only one regular-season game last season for the Cowboys, who released him on July 25.

Sparano said Thursday "nothing has changed" regarding Glenn and the Dolphins.

The rookie head coach said to expect the team's interest in players like Glenn and Carter to become a recurring theme as the team continues its rebuilding project.

"This isn't going to change. It really isn't," Sparano said. "Yesterday it was Terry Glenn. Today, it's Quincy. We're just going to keep turning over, flipping over stones and bringing in a lot of people.

"It probably isn't going to change for two or three years."

More Tuna Magic...........Want to send a clear cut message to your QB's?  Being in another QB for a work out.  The Tuna probably paid for the trip and gave him some money just to perform.  Let the QB's know that they ARE ALL replaceable at any time. Just another Hit from Parcells BIC Lighter as they dance on the spoon.......... Wink Grin
