Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter named Defensive Player of the Week

NFL.com users voted Dolphins lineback Joey Porter the GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Week for games played on Sept. 21-22.

Porter posted three sacks, a forced fumble and six tackles during the Dolphins 38-13 win over the New England Patriots Sunday.

The Dolphins linebacker beat out Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Juqua Parker, Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams and Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield.

Porter's honor comes just days after Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for his performance against the Patriots.
