The Broncos went 8-8 this season and became the first team in NFL history to blow a three-game divisional lead with three weeks left, and Shanahan was fired 48 hours later.

 Cheesy

Again, at least the Bronco's owner had the guts to fire him.  The Dolphins had a similar lead in 2002 and blew it, but Uncle Wayne kept Wanny on.

If I were the owner, I would've done the same thing Pat Bowlen did. You don't pull a choke job like that on my team and then expect to keep your job.

No go.  I would hire Rex Ryan or Steve Spagnulo.  They need someone with a defensive mind.

I do find it curious that they're going with McDaniels (he's being announced at 7 PM EST) because they do need defensive help.

Hmmm, I don't necessarially buy the idea that a team who needs defensive help hires a defensive minded HC.  Seeing as they have a potent offense I can see the logic in hiring the guy who has mastermined a potent high powered offense (and developed a rookie QB) and get a dedicated def coord in to mastermind the develoment of a new scheme starting from almost scratch.

According to the Boston Globe, Mike Nolan has also been hired as D-Coordinator
