I predicted 6 wins before the season. Two things have happened: We've been better, everyone else has been worse - especially in the AFC East. Still, that 6 wins was at the "very optimistic" end of my estimates at that time, so if my new prediction of 7 wins (if I had to say something today) seems low, well, that's why.

Our remaining schedule is pretty easy, all things considered, so how many wins can we get? We might actually win 2 of our next 3 games, but I don't think we can get more than 8-9 wins in total. I'm not saying that's the most likely scenario, but it's something I could see happening. The problem is, Buffalo would have to fall completely apart not to get at least 9 wins as well. With the way the Patriots have been playing, even though it's not "pretty", I think they'll get 10 wins, maybe even 11.

So, no playoffs for us. We'll be fighting for 3rd place in the division with the Jets. If Mangini can get Favre to cut down on the risky throws (like McCarthy did last year in Green Bay), the Jets will contend for a Wild Card spot. If Favre continues like he has, they'll be lucky not to finish last in the division.

For reference, our remaining games:

@DEN
SEA
OAK
NE
@STL
@BUF
SF
@KC
@NYJ

Luckily the AFC East is paired up with some pretty soft divisions this year, which means the dolphins might end up with a stronger w-l record than they would normally.

Personally I prefer 1:00 games.

For the Majority sure.........but when ever Miami does a monday or Sunday night , unless it was a home game, I always broke out the Grill, turned the lights on in the pool and invited some friends over. Good times.  Miami has had any in a long while........I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel.  Cool

Favre has actually been garbage for the Jets this season, minus that one ridiculous 6 TD game. Even including that, his QB Rating is under 90. Take that one fluke game away, and he is one of the worst QB's in the league, with a TD:INT ratio of 7:7.

Maybe this will change, but as of right now, the Jets would be a lot better with Chad. Favre also has superior receivers and is getting less out of them than Chad is with mocked 1st round picks and undrafted rookies.

I doubt the fins will make the playoffs. New England and Buffalo will be tough to top in the standings. The Dolphins while much better are still eratic.

I agree with about Favre. This guy has been terrible aside from the 6 td game. In his last three games he has thrown 7 interceptions... Is it possible for the media to admit that he has had three bad games in a row?

How is that "one of the worst"? (Not saying it's good, although taking away "fluke" games is always questionable).

Flacco, Hasselbeck, Griese, Palmer, Frerotte, O'Sullivan, Thigpen, Kitna and Collins have all thrown as many interceptions as touchdowns - WITHOUT taking away any good performances.

That's why I just said one of the worst, because there are clearly guys doing far worse than him. I didn't mean to cherrypick results to come to my conclusion, I just feel it was a fluke game. He didn't even throw for 300 yards that game and he got 6 TD's to 1 INT. That's pretty fluky and unlikely to repeat itself.

I view sports sometimes through a GM's mind. I analyze numbers a lot, maybe too much at times. I just feel that if I was offered Favre in a trade, would I take him? I would see his numbers, take away the best and worst game and then see how they pan out. So far for Favre, not very well.

What does everyone think our chances of making the playoffs are? (from 1 to 100)

We are only one game out of a playoff spot so anything is possible, Right now i say 60% chance as of now.

I would say Dolphins chances at a playoff spot is around 5%.  Too many other teams would have to fall apart.

agreed, I think keeping to talking of hopes of a .500 season are more reasonable.
