Another neat Web Weekend tidbit.  For those of you that might have known him, T-Rock, web contributor to a few Dolphins sites over the years, died this past year.  His wife and daughter were at Web Weekend this year, and the team dedicated the best website award to Tom, and are calling it the "Tom Eddie award".  I thought that was really cool of them.

The one "bad moment" of web weekend for me...

I ran into Tom's wife and daughter outside the main facility while I was huffing a smoke, and we spoke for a few minutes. I didn't know who she was, or who Tom Eddie was. I asked her if she had been to one of these web weekends before, just to make polite conversation, and she asked if I knew Tom Eddie. I told her the name sounded familiar, but I was relatively new to the Phins web media stuff. She said that Tom Eddie was her husband, and I, not knowing that Tom was recently deceased, glibly replied...

"well, congratulations to both of you..."

When they announced in the meeting later about Tom, and renaming the award, I sat there feeling like a totally embarrassed putz-savant.

Man, I hate not knowing the really important info when I really need to know it...

Story of my life!!

That's really cool that they did that for him.  He was involved with several sites let alone known by many.

I know the feeling, but I'm sure his wife understood because she didn't know you.

If you feel the need to apologize to the woman, go onto PhinFever and drop Big Dave a message.  I'm sure he'll be more than happy to forward it to Tom Eddie's wife.

It probably wasn't a big deal to her.  Obviously, you didn't know who he was.  I'd just let it go.

I'm sure it wasn't a big deal to her at all...but a person who chooses his words carefully always regrets when the wrong ones come out.

No worries...

Yes, but it is carefully chosen and freely spewed midget love...
