It's not often you get to see two Florida Atlantic University sports games on TV in the same week, even when you live in Boca Raton. I got to this week though...and the Owls sure looked good for a small school in both games as well...
Motor City Bowl: Florida Atlantic: 24 Central Michigan: 21
The Owls QB, Rusty Smith, took to the air and threw for 307 yards and a pair of TDs...he got the player of the game, but it should have gone to the only FAU player who will be on an NFL roster next season. LB Frantz Joseph, who led all of division 1 with 141 tackles, had another monster game. They haven't posted the tackle totals on that game yet, but I'm certain he had a dozen or more. He was everywhere, and Central Michigan just had no answer on how to block him. He won't be a high draft pick in April, but he'll get picked. FAU is only in it's 8th season of playing at the division 1 level, but it is now 2-0 in bowl games.
I really enjoyed watching this Bowl game on ESPN... I loved seeing Howard Schnellenberger get a gatorade bath... the old boy looked hilarious!
