thrown up 10 times, toke 10 showers just to try to feel betterm it was obviously my kidney stones acting up. I ate a box pretzel sticks before i went to bed and thats what i think triggered my kidney stone to act up. having 2 other times, i should have learned before this episode. i went to the ER around 10 and spend a good 5 hours there,

They put some anti nausea medicine and pain relief medicine into my veins through a needle, and i felt 100 times better, they also gave me some medicines to take home and right now i feel good. i still have the pain because of my kidney stones, but it's at a management level for me. I don't feel like throwing up or anything like that.

Wow, they are really hanging around. It took me only about a week to pass mine both times. The pain comes from them moving through your system Are you drinking plenty of water?

Kidney stones = no joke.

Hang in there, Raptor - this, like everything else, will pass in time.  You'll be back on your feet and "in the game" in no time.

Best wishes, pal!

I just watched Deadwood, where Al Swerengen has to pass some kidney stones.  I wish you the best, and may we all thank modern medicine that it isn't as a bad as it used to be.

YIKES! Feel better! Once they pass, are they gone for good, or is it something that can reoccur?

They can re-occur.  Isn't it just a build up of calcium?

^^^ That is one cause. Different things cause kidney stones; calcium, sodas, broccoli are a few things I have heard. The only way to know what caused each person's is to piss through a strainer until you catch the stone and then take it to get analyzed.

There is also a hereditary predisposition to them as well. The first time I had one act up one of the first questions they asked me was if I had a family history of kidney stones.

A little update, i went to see the doctor to discuss options, She said there is no chance i will pass the stone so i will have to have a lithotripsy (spelling??) if that doesn't work i might have to spend some time in the hospital (2 days i think) with a tube in my back and i will have to wear those stylist gowns they give you (sarcasm).

Is lithotripsy the thing where you sit in the hottub with sound waves that break up the stones?

I had to have a stent.  Sucks big time.  Hurts like hell.  It was 17-18 years ago but I remember it vividly.  I hope the litho works for you bud. Smiley

PS - my urologist told me to stay away from tea and cola (which I lived on at the time) and drink lots of water - I swore off of both of them, and caffiene in general just for the heck of it and I have been fine ever since.

I feel your pain....... Wink
