My point was that if Paps had done the same thing you would have been all over him

And my point is that Papelbon is a seasoned veteran making 6,250,000 per year and is supposed to be an elite closer.

Bard, as a rookie, has much better numbers that Papelbon right now.

YES - I am going to be all over a veteran "elite" closer over a rookie that threw one bad pitch to a pretty darned good hitter.  Especially when they rookie was coming off 13 scoreless innings.  He is going to give up a run eventually.

I don't expect Papelbon to be perfect.  I can actually deal with the 3 blown saves and the loss this season.  I don't expect him to be perfect.  Papelbon throws his best FB at Longoria and Longoria crushes it to China?  Oh well.  Nature of the game.  He's going to get hit sooner or later.

What bugs the ever living crap out of me is the high wire act.  I'm not sure why this is so hard for people to grasp.  The guy is putting people on base like it's his job.  The hits and walks are going to catch up to him sooner or later unless they stop.

I'd rather re-do the Peavy trade and have them take out the last pitcher (Dexter Carter) and add infielder Gordon Beckham, but until I work the bugs out of my time machine, that's probably not going to happen.

Difference being that San Diego had 50+ million reasons to trade Peavy.  That deal was as much about trading the contract than the player.

That was a hell of a game last night.  The Rays were doing the same thing as the Sox by leaving runners on base, once with the bases juiced and no outs.  I had some annoying ass Boston fans behind me at the bar that would clap really loud and long for every strike that was thrown, so I was happy to see them lose (sorry Maine, I know you're not all like that).  Point is, the bar closed before the game was over lol.  All I have to say is, Longo is a beast!

Going to the game tonight, tickets on the 1st base line.  Should be fun!

The game was awesome tonight.  Great seats and great play out of the batters.
