I haven't been afraid to voice my opinion that I think Justin Masterson is an overall better prospect than Clay Buchholz (and that Boston made a mistake by trading him).  He's throwing very well thus far in Cleveland, too.

That said, Buccky keeps tossing the way he is and he'll make a believer out of me.  Yankees game he went 6 and 2/3 with four hits, 1 ER and 5 K.  Today against Detroit he went 7IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 3 K.  Not a bad line at all.  Boston REALLY needs to get 7 out of their starters for a while...Clay held the line.  Kudos.

If Clay keeps pitching well and Boston misses the playoffs by a game or two, the whole Smoltz/Penny thing will look REALLY bad. Clay shouldn't ever go back down to the minors anyway, what is left there for him to do?

Word.  That is like blaming hitters when they face Beckett for not generating runs.  Verlander is a beast.
