He sucks at SS but might as well toss Nick Green on the mound.  He pitched two innings last night in relief (God bless him).  Two innings, a couple K's, no runs...hit 90 on the gun.  Threw NOTHING but two seam FBs.

Nick Green for President, baby!

Man, they should've held onto Penny, that guy was awesome tonight for the Giants. Thanks National League!

I get a little tired of the "National League" thing.  Last time I checked, those guys are major league players as well.  And, last time I checked, the Phillies have a line up that compare with about anyone - AL or NL.

I will also make this stance:  Yes, the pitchers create an offensive disadvantage at times.  That said...MOST AL teams do not have rock stars in their batting order 1-9.  Every team has offensive challenges.

I don't care who Penny faces last night.  The Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox or the AL All-Star team.  His fastball was dancing.  His breaking pitches broke.  He induced a beautiful inning ending DP that was a work of art.  His delivery was slightly different than that with Boston.  Penny pitches like he did last night and he beats anyone regardless of the league.

There's a reason why a mediocre pitcher in the AL can become an all star in the NL....   No DH to deal with.

^^Apparently you either didn't (completely) read or understand my post.  I completely and utterly disagree with that stance.

Watch those mis-labels... Penny hasn't made an all star team since the switch, and neither has Smoltzie. Neither of them will in the future either.

Maine is right...Penny would have blazed through pretty much any lineup in his last start. Same goes for Smoltzie in his first start after the switch.

I wonder if there's something about the pitching coaching staff in Boston that is trying to change these guys' approach or modify something slightly that was messing them up?

I don't know anything about the situation but you got 2 guys that struggled in the Sox rotation and tore it up elsewhere.  I also don't buy the AL/NL thing one bit...

Don't discount that Beckett is suddenly in a slump and Lester has struggled at times this season as well.  I'm not sure what is going on...but something is.

Those might Red Sox are now a whopping one game over .500 on the road after last night's win!  Go Sox!  You powerful team, you!

A whole game over .500 on the road!  Wow!
