Biggest question for me is Cobbs. He looked good in extremely limited action -- he only saw 6 carries. Half that of last year. Next year will be his 5th. I think there's a risk he's just not going to develop much more. I'm convinced we'll draft someone to push him.

I think that it's a mistake to judge Cobbs strictly as a runner.  He's a pass catcher and good blocker, plus he plays really well on special teams.  He's not the kind of guy you get rid of, in my opinion.  Plus, I know that Sparano really likes him.

Cobbs is the sh*t.  As far as I'm concerned, even if we lose both Ricky and Ronnie (not saying that I hope that happens because I still like Ricky a lot and will always have a fond spot in my heart for Ronnie since he played at Auburn), I want to keep both Cobbs and Polite (not that there's a question about Lousaka being let go).  It's players like these two and Greg Camarillo who bring a lot of character and grit and variability in skill set (particularly Cobbs, as Dave highlighted) to the team, and I think it's still much needed.  While none of them are superstars, they all fit in well with what Miami is trying to do offensively currently, and I think it would be a mistake not to keep them around for at least another season...again, not that this was a question for any one of the three but Cobbs, but I guess I just wanted to get on my mini-soapbox for a sec.   Grin

Also, 'fore anyone goes accusing me of wanting Patrick Cobbs as our starting halfback next season, of course I still want him in the role that he plays now.  If we do let Ronnie walk next season (I don't think Ricky's going anywhere since he's already said next season will be his last), I hope that we will draft someone studly in the middle rounds of the draft because I don't believe that Cobbs is the type of back that will be able to tote the load by himself.  Still, in my mind, he brings great value as a change-of-pace back with solid pass catching and blocking skills.

Coaching:

Henning- stays
Pasqualoni- goes.  We can get a better DC to run the 3-4 down at coaches-r-us.

Offense:

Pennington- goes barring massive pay cut
Ginn- stays but I'm on the fence about this one.
Brown- stays
Fasano- stays barring some minor miracle in the draft
Hilliard- stays special teams player, he's probably our best reciever out of the backfield in what little I've seen of him.
Cobbs- stays also a good reciever and special teams player

Defense

Taylor- stays in a limited role
Wilson- goes.  Not even a question
Jason Allen- stays but only because he can play special teams
Torbor- goes
Soliai- goes

others not on the original list
Porter- goes due to the emergence of Cameron Wake and to a lesser extent Charlie Anderson.
Ayodele- goes.  Haven't heard his name called all season unless he's blowing a coverage.
Crowder- goes.  Misses way too many tackles and blows way too many coverages to justify keeping him.
Bell- goes if we can get a decent safety in the draft/FA
Ferguson- goes.

The whole defense with the exception of the corners needs to be gutted and replaced.  This team gave up way too many points especially in the 4th quarter and if I may mention this briefly, I think we miss too damn many tackles largely because our team literally doesn't practice tackling.  They do "thud", all year, they get in the game and then they miss tackles right and left.  If they don't change this, you can probably expect more shitty defense as long as this regime is in place.

Where to start after all of these posts?

Hilliard is Ricky's replacement and Brown is our top offensive producer (and has the most value in Miami) - both stay

If Ricky is let go for some reason, Cobbs stays.  Otherwise, if a shifty-speedy runner becomes available Cobbs is gone.

Fasano is more important than you think, he stays.

Pennington is gone, unless they cut there losses on the Pat White experiment.  This would only happen if Pennington was willing to come back with a reduced role (unlikely).

Henning stays - nobody does more with less.
Pasqualoni likely stays, but the Tuna is likely looking for a potential replacement for both of these guys within a year or two.

Taylor stays in an EXPANDED role.  Porter goes.  Either Ayodele or Torbor stay but not both and they take (or keep) a non-starting role.

Soliai stays but not for long.  Wilson was better than given credit for and has a better chance at staying than many on this board think.  In the end, I think he stays.

Jason Allen probably should go, but I think he actually stays and Will Allen goes.  Will seems too feisty to accept a non-starting role but his skills and reliability are deminishing.  I hope he stays and allows himself to play a supportive role.

Ferguson is a post-draft decision but does have 1 more starting year in him.

A lot of these were tough picks for me, Doc.  I'm on the fence about a number of them especially Ferguson.

Some of them are 50-50 and I'm still sick about how the defense played as a unit and in general to think we can't improve massively with even average talent.
