This show is frustrating.

It's pretty clear to me that the judges are massaging their comments to get certain people to go through.  The rock singer guy, Lee, has been completely off-key in every song he's sung, yet he's praised as the best.  It's nuts.

Also, the judges are really inconsistent in their advice.  They tell you to change the song, make it your own, and be relevant, and then if you do, they tell you that the song is a classic for a reason and doesn't need to be changed.

I think there is one guy on there who interests me: Andrew Garcia.  His stuff this week was considerably worse than before, because I think the judges neutered him, but I think that the tone of his voice has a quality that sets him apart.  There are some other people on there that are good singers, but have no marketability.

I agree.  The judges are already trying to sway the vote and their advice is all over the place depending on who they are critiquing.  They were overly harsh on guys I thought did pretty well and they were praising guys I thought did poorly.  The same thing happened last season.  I think a lot of people realized that they were trying to make Adam the winner and resisted that and voted for Chris.  Honestly, if my kids were not so into it, I would not even watch it anymore.

btw - I did not think anyone stood out among the others this week.

I don't think the judges need to do that.  If they just give honest critiques, with the goal of making people better (and not what THEY want them to be), then people will determine who they like, rather than being resentful.

Besides, none of this matters at this point -- they're jockeying for 20th place.  By the end of things, it will all work out, but I think it's 2 years now, that they've started crowning a champion too early, and having the results come out differently.

People like Janis Joplin or Mama Cass woudn't have made it in todays music buisness. Videos, MTV , fashion play a much bigger role.  They look for looks first and see if they can create a better singer. Not the other way around. Its why I hate most of todays music. So polished and fake. But the masses eat it up. Then any kid without a 20 inch waist and hair extentions winds up in therapy or on drugs because they see the world through that fucking TV.

I stand corrected. I thought that Miami Chick would float to the Top 5 on looks alone. Maybe there is hope .
