I think Philly made a great trade, because by this time next year, they likely wouldn't have been able to get squat for McNabb.

Very true, because he's a free agent after this season!

Washington gets a probable hall of fame quarterbacks and all the eagles get is a second round picks this year and third or fourth week next year? T

Hall of Fame? No way. Is he the best QB the Eagles have ever had- yes. But NFL Hall of Fame? No.

I know you're not comparing Tom Brady to Donovan McNabb. So i'll gloss over that part of your comment as i'm sure you really didn't mean to say Tom Brady = Donovan McNabb, but were merely highlighting the intra-division QB trade.
When I use the word "like" and not the words "this is the same as", I think most people understand what I am referring to, but thanks for pointing out the meaningless anyways!

Are you kidding me?  He has multiple appearances in the NFC championship game and one Superbowl, he's passed for almost 33,000 yards, he has more than twice as many TD's (216) than INTs (100), he's rushed for over 3,000 yards and 28 TDs and he's a five time pro-bowler.  Compare those stats to someone like Troy Aikman (32,942 yards, 165 TDs, 141 INTs).  When it's said and done, McNabb will have surpassed him in every category and Aikman only has his Superbowls to hang his hat on which has a ton to do with his team being one of the most stacked teams ever.  I'd say McNabb is a first ballot HOFer.

I can see McNabb getting into the Hall, on the numbers alone, but unless he wins a title with his new team, I am just not seeing a first ballot situation.

This trade is like trading Tom Brady to the dolphins.

Wouldn't a better comparison be comparing Pro-bowler Drew Bledsoe to the Bills.

This could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for McNabb.

He's going to a quarterback friendly coach in Mike Shanahan. McNabb's career (with the exception of the numbers) almost compares to another Shanahan quarterback, John Elway. Before Elway won those back to back Super Bowls, a lot of people doubted him as a Hall of Fame QB and that he wouldn't get in first ballot. Elway couldn't win the big one.

We know that Shanahan is going to have a top five running game. That's his track record. That would take pressure off of McNabb. To me, when the Eagles had Westbrook and Buckhalter, they were just specialist backs masquerading as every down backs. The Eagles never had that L.T. Edge (in his heyday) kind of running back. Even though Westbrook was great, I always felt that Philly was missing something in the backfield. Ronnie Brown reminds me a lot of Westbrook. Brown just has more power.

Steve Young finally won a Super Bowl with Shanahan calling the plays. Same with Elway. Shanahan with Jake Plummer took the Broncos to the AFC Championship only to lose to that years champion Pittsburgh. I wouldn't count McNabb out with Shanahan as coach.

He'll have to work a miracle then, because Washington was #27 in rushing offense last year, and finished bottom-10 in pretty much every team rushing metric. When it came to running, the Skins were really good at stopping. They have, imo, one of the 5 worst O-lines in the league, and their top OL free agent signing was Artis Hicks (all together now..."WHO?"). Larry Johnson is not going to be the rushing game's savior, and unless they strike gold on multiple shots with "immediate contributor" O-linemen in the draft, Washington won't even finish in the top half of the league in rushing next year, much less top-5.

I have always liked McNabb, despite really hating the Eagles (and their fans, especially).  I can now truly hate them and hope that McNabb comes in twice a year and spanks them.

McNabb has always been a stand-up guy, despite getting shit on.  I wish him the best.
