Marshall had a "routine procedure" on his hip about 3 weeks ago, but should be ready for camp. (Source: nfl.com and the Miami Herald)

While anything could be considered "routine" these days, hip surgery doesn't sound "minor".

Should we be worried?

No.  The procedure that he had done would put you or I on the couch for 3-4 weeks and weight bearing within a month, full restrictions lifted after two.  A professional athlete in prime condition?  Shave that in half.  He'll be fine.

On it's own, this relatively minor procedure wouldn't worry me at all. Combine it with the surgery he had last year on his "other" hip, and I may not be worried, but I'm creeping up on the outskirts of concerned.

My concerns are that he is missing some development time with his new team and QB.  OTAs help players get set for a good and productive training camp, all of which it appears he will miss.  I also don't like that he is having multiple issues with his hips which are crucial to all NFL players but particularly receivers and corners.  I also don't trust anything Sparano says.

On a positive, the media is only coming up with news of minor stuff and Marshal didn't look to be in any degree of pain.  More than likely this won't end up being much of an issue, but considering we just got him new out of the box at a top price this isn't welcome news.

^^ he isn't exactly new "out of the box" - he's gently used, and did miss a few games last season due to injury.
