Report: Channing Crowder to miss season with foot injury
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 11, 2010 6:01 PM ET
Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder's is reportedly over before it ever got started.

The Associated Press reports Crowder will miss the entire 2010 season with a foot injury, according to a tweet from the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta.  No other details are known at this time.

The new is surprising because Crowder appeared to return to full health in June practice, reclaiming his starting job.

An old friend of Rex Ryan and Florio, Crowder has battled injuries throughout his career, ending last season on injured reserve with another foot problem.  (The Dolphins feared he had a Lisfranc fracture.)  The Dolphins acquired Tim Dobbins from San Diego in a draft day trade and he was set to compete with Crowder for a starting job.

Now it appears that Dobbins will have the starting job all to himself, with rookie A.J. Edds a candidate to play on passing downs.

Now I'm hearing other reports that this isn't the case and that this story might be false...

Addressing the issue at hand though, say he is out for the year.  I'm not that upset about it...I think Dobbins can at least do just as good a job, and Edds will get some more playing time, which is good for his development.  Then again, if this story is true, that's more competition for that ILB spot, which is always good for production of a player.

UPDATE: This report was a mistake, the result of an NFL Network crawl from 2009 running on a re-aired game today. Channing Crowder is not out for 2010. We apologize for the error.

No...PFT just messed up on a report, and I guess he's still on schedule to play this season.
