I get the Brett Favre love affair, and the story of him missing training camp -- the media loves it -- I get it.  I don't like it, but I get why there's all this "What's wrong with the Vikings?" talk.

As for the Cowboys, I don't.

The Cowboys haven't been an elite team for a decade, but everyone seems to think that they're some kind of dynasty that's fallen on hard times.  You know why the Cowboys are 0-2?  ...cause they're not that good.  That's why.  Who scares you on the Cowboys?  They won like 1 playoff game in the last 10 years.

Yet when they're 0-2, it's the talk of the town.  Irritating.

I think the Cowboys have a lot of talent.  They're a better team top to bottom than the Dolphins for sure, but...and this is a big but...they suffer from horrible coaching, which in turn suffers greatly from a horrible owner/general manager.  Jerry Jones is literally running his team into the ground.

I don't think talent is the issue because they are definitely loaded offensively and pretty good defensively to boot.  They have a top 10 QB, a great trio of running backs, one standout WR, a great TE, great D-Line, awesome LBs, and a pretty damn good trio of CBs.  Most teams would kill for their talent.  Their problem offensively is with their O-Line.  There's no cohesiveness and it's riddled with injuries.  That unit also has NO depth whatsoever.  They can thank Jerry Jones directly for that one.

The biggest issue on the field is with their coach who, in addition to sucking, has been undermined by Jerry Jones whenever possible.  The players know if they have a beef, they should go to Jerry and he'll smooth it over.  Wade Phillips has to ask permission from Jerry to fine his players.  Wade is not a leader of men.  He's quiet, wishy-washy, and a too much of a player's coach to drive his talented team to victory.  Wade is the anti-Parcells, which is exactly what Jerry wanted after Bill left.  Though the Cowboys finally have the talent to win a lot of games, they lack the fortitude to persevere and the fire to compete.  They mirror their coach.

Jerry Jones just wants a yes man as head coach so Jerry can stay the star.

My only guess is that the media gets sucked into their own Cowboys hype every year and they don't like to be wrong.

Cowboys are the Yankees and Notre Dame. Even when bad they will get tons of media coverage. Most popular team by far in the sport.
