Reasons to start Bibby:
He is a better ball distributor
The HEAT are winning, as is.

Reasons not to start Bibby:
He sucks
He can't make a shot to save his life.

Reasons to start Chalmers:
He is more "electric".
He is a more reliable shooter and can make the occasional move to the basket.

Reasons not to start Chalmers:
It might upset a good thing.
He doesn't bring the ball up very well.

I voted for Bibby. Not just because of the "if it ain't broke..." principle (or my love of all former U of Arizona players), but because I see Chalmers as providing energy off the bench, and I think that is a good thing for this team.

I agree that it should be Bibby.

I think that at the start of games, you aren't going to your point guard for points -- you're going to the Big 3.  And later in the game, when you're switching the guys out -- that's when you're calling on your bench guys to get points.

Also, Chalmers makes me nervous.  Bibby sucks, but he's a known quantity and probably won't cost you turnovers.

Bibby is a true point guard.  He does a lot more passing and setting up plays than shooting, which is what a point guard should do.  Your primary scoring options should be your shooting guard, small forward, and center.  I remember Bibby being one of the top point guards in the league back in the days when he teamed with Chris Webber in Sacramento and they were challenging the Lakers for supremacy in the West.

I hate to see Bibby on the floor.  Honestly I do.  He sucks and blows at the same time.  He's shooting 25% for the playoffs.  0 for 8 in the past 2 games.  ALL OPEN LOOKS.    I mean wide open and he's putting up bricks.  Heat opponents don't even bother running a man at him. And it's not like he's racking up the assists.  5 total in the last 4 games.  He did have 2 steals last night, so I'll give him credit for that.

Despite how much I dislike him as a player, I also get nervous about messing with a line up that's winning.  I guess you leave him in......just tell him not to shoot the ball or Udonis will beat the crap out of him.    Bibby's minutes are declining as his play gets worse, so he may start, but I think Chalmers will see more minutes.

Next year Miami has to address the point guard position as a top priority.

at this point, all you really need is a guy to bring the ball up court and not make any turnovers. sure you would like him to hit a wide open shot once every 50 attempts, but you are not winning or losing the game based on mike bibby making or missing shots.

biggest priority is to avoid the easy buckets for the mavs going the other way, and bibby fits that role. he has also been playing pretty good defense.

you also don't want to get into too much lineup changes this late in the season. bibby starting isn't killing this team, and chalmers is giving a good spark off the bench. i would stay with that rotation...
