we learned some things today that indicate the team is headed in the right direction. Here is just a few of my observations.

1. Tannehill showed his athletic ability and made good decisions. Yes, easier against the Rads than the Texans, but still a good sign.

2. Good game plan. Impressed with JP's ability to make adjustments. When the game became close, they increased the pressure on Palmer.

3. Much more fit. The only guys I saw with hands on hips were the rads.

4. Secondary still needs work. No, let's be honest. They suck. Sure miss Bell. Even a yr. older, he is better than what they have.

5. Sorry to say, Jake Long is not the 14 mil dollar LT we thought. He was beat all day.

I'm worried about 2 things on this team right now..the pass rush. We aren't getting enough pressure on the opposing QB's and Tannehill is getting pressured way too often. Long needs to play better and the right side of the offensive line needs to pick it up. Vernon or someone is gonna need to step it up and put some pressure from the opposite side of Wake.

Long is over-rated ...period. His injuries are mounting. NFW does he sign for the money he is making now. I am "OK" with the right side of the line. Would have rather had Winston, but Martin will be good given time. Notice Jerry's name was not mentioned...a good sign for a lineman.

Agree on the pass rush!  Where did it go??? Wake had a couple of good plays, but took many plays off. Odrick who??? Starks was solid, but not a factor in the pass rush. It looks like Coyle will only use the blitz when the game is on the line PREDICTABLE!!! Very disappointed on the secondary. It needs to improve vastly & quickly!!!!!!!!

PS. Have I mentioned that Clemons and Carroll SUCK!!!! Two yrs. from now they will be asking " you want fries with that?". Hell, they should be saying that today!!!!!

Jake Long is clearly not what he used to be.  The injuries have taken their toll and I see things getting worse for him as time goes on.

I've discussed this back and forth with MikeO in another thread.  Jonathan Martin was a left tackle in college, and he took a few snaps at left tackle against Dallas in the preseason game and did exceptionaly well.  If Long doesn't get his act together, it wouldn't hurt to let him walk in free agency as his replacement is already on the roster.

For what Jake Long will want we can get 3 players! I don't know if its injuries or what but he isn't the same player. He is Tony Boceli 2.0. When season is over tough decision whether to cut bait on him.

I'm just going to enjoy the win and not over analyze what it means for the rest of the year or even next week.  I still think that there aren't going to be too many wins to celebrate this year.  So I'm just going to revel in the giddy feeling that I had yesterday for a couple more days and enjoy it.    Grin

Plus, it's always nice to humiliate the Raiders.

Agree, one of the knocks on Ireland is that he doesn't get much bang for the buck. They had no choice concerning Long when he was drafted, but things will be different this time around. If I had to guess, I would say Jake gets replaced and Martin would be the perfect replacement. Of course that means being back in the market for a RT
