Dave always seems to get some good responses when asking ,so..umm yeah I'm going to try this for choosing my next 3d modeling project...

I've been playing with things, doing small random animations, learning different ways of doing things....I have a couple of ideas for projects down the road, after I work on a few things...Right now, I'm banging my head against the wall trying to find something as my next bigger project...

Feel free to post pictures...

Here's what I'm looking for...
Cool,unusual,and a little different things....
*Cars,or trucks
*Airplanes
*Boats- I'm not real keen on doing a boat, because of setting (It's either on the water,in a bottle, dry docked,or on a dock) but if there was one that tickled my fancy I'd do it.
*Cool and unusual architecture
*Objects

Mostly anything non organic,no humans,animals,etc....that's character stuff...I'm still a beginner..

One of the problems I run into there is lot of cool things, but they've been modeled to death.. a Ferrari,Lamborghini,Guitar, anything Apple,Star wars stuff, star trek stuff..Most of that stuff there are tons of it....

So let's hear it TDMMC...

Apologies if I'm missing the point here but have you thought about taking the step into designing your own model? You know instead of doing a 3d model of someone else's car or building, design one yourself?

I'm not a designer, and I'm still learning...You can only model pencils, flashlights, spray bottles, paper clips, common everyday objects for so long.If you try to make a new un-seen object,Yeah it's great for other 3d modelers to ask ..How'd you do that? You should have done this...Most of the time, they say things like...you should have made it this way...

Normal people tend to go...Cool,I guess...umm ..What is it? If people can't relate to it,It's hard for them to critique it other than...I like it,or I don't like it....

I had an idea to do a Dr Suess-like Human powered vehicle made of junk yard parts ....but you need to be able to character model a character as a pilot.I ran into this problem when I did my Isetta road scene, and the pilot for the Sikorsky...I took a basic model a ripped them part like a psycho kid with a his kid sister's Barbie dolls, they don't have any legs,or their arms are backwards,etc,etc....

Never mind....Thanks for the suggestions...
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Modified to say, I'm sorry for being snippy,I had just got may ass chewed on a phone call from a co-worker...

I find things that people would recognize are much harder to do,the average person says that doesn't look right, that's not really like that, that looks right,or wrong etc,etc...WTF were you thinking?

There is an element of design in every project I do, I try to build a background around the object, make it more like a photograph....Rather than..Look it's a pencil sitting on a plain black,or white gradient background with studio lighting...

Most of the things I've done, (big project wise), I've never seen other than on T.V. or online through pictures....
-Wrigley field- one of the first over zealous projects I tried,I plan on going back to this in the near future
- I owned a Fender Stratocaster, but built a living room set around it to make the picture more real...
- Miami Dolphins Revolution Helmet - I've used it a lot,it's in my signature...
- BMW Isetta -I'd never heard of one, till I saw American Pickers...So I modeled it,and made the road scene, then the diner scene (Still probably my favorite project)
- Shelby Cobra - I've never seen one in person...Found the pictures online, made a dock scene for a backdrop..
- Sikorsky S-38 Flying boat- there is only two replicas in existence..Found a picture of it on line modeled it,then built an airport scene...

I hope I explained that a little better...
