I don't see boots on the ground here... not in a combat role anyway. It might be possible to support the rebels with a Libya-style air campaign, but as several have pointed out already, it's not clear that having the rebels win would be good.

The most likely scenario, IMHO, is some sort of targeted "punishment" using cruise missiles or even drones.

Perhaps there might be a way to coerce Assad to give up the remaining chemical weapons to inspectors, although such a move would likely be precluded by missile strikes.
