Volkswagen: What's cooler

I just saw a Heidi Klum/Volkswagen commercial during lunch. She is sitting in a chair being interviewed by a 1970's style Beetle. It got me thinking, do even the Volkswagen marketing people think that the new Beetle sucks compared to the old models? In my opinion there is no comparison, the old Beetles were cool especially when tricked out baja style. The new Beetle just looks like a Barbie toy to me. Your thoughts?

The old ones were around for what 30 years,with no major (noticable) design changes...They took the apporach,if aint broke don't fix it....

I have to admit, I've never driven ,or rode in a new one...I only ever see the Geek squad really out and about driving them....
