What's the deal?

« on: October 01, 2014, 05:11:39 pm »

8 years at $1.5 billion per year for NFL Sunday Ticket, a 50% increase from the previous deal.  You think this is gonna cause prices to go up?

Nope. They can't because they will lose customers. They had to reduce the price 2 years ago because so many people left DIRECTV, they can't raise them back up they will go bankrupt.

What they will do is expand their offerings of games online. Offer them via a special package to people who can't get DirecTV in there area or live in apartments or just offer them online period. To increase revenue that way.

They will hike up the price of Sunday Ticket and people will call and get discounts over the phone.  Its like selling crack to crackheads - they'll eventually pay whatever you want.

That's not the case anymore since they reduced the price. Still happens on occasion I'm sure but. Its not like it once was. They won't hike it up....they lost so many customers they almost went bankrupt. ..they changed and won't go back to that strategy.

They will offer packages online to make revenue,  not price themselves out of the market

They dropped the price about two years ago, but have been increasing it since then. Granted they are not at the level of their all-time high but they have been gradually increasing ever since their drop. I don't see huge jumps in increases coming but I would bet money there will be some increases.

It's like people who don't pay attention to their phone bill. Most people won't bother asking.
