To the best of my knowledge, the only college coaches to ever win a Super Bowl without NFL coaching experience are Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer (with Jimmy Johnson's team).
Miami already tried Jimmy Johnson.
Even Jimmy would admit that he had the team going in the right direction before he burned out and turned the team over to Wandstaadt who immediately turned the team in the opposite direction. I honestly felt that Jimmy Johnson felt conflicted about Dan Marino. He understood just how big of an icon he was in Miami, but he also realized that his skills were diminishing and wanted to replace him as soon as he took over the team. I really wish that Jimmy would have been able to stick with it a few more years but he just couldn't do what he did in Dallas anymore. Coaching the way he coached takes a lot out of you. He was finished, but he did a good job in Miami up until the last year when he basically had given up turned it over to Wanny who just wasn't the same guy that JJ was. If you watched the guy in Dallas and then saw him in Miami, it was like night and day. It wasn't "his" team and he didn't have it in him anymore to stay with it long enough to make it his team and he didn't have Herschel Walker to turn it into his team overnight like he did in Dallas.
