Some people are just pure scum and people who do that definitely fall into that category.

Car is a total loss.  

I only bought it four years ago.

Insurance is awful as well.

- I was in the car when it happened.

- As far as I know, there were no video cameras around

- I just bought this car in 2021 for $12,500 and it had 150,000 miles on it when I was hit.

- This is going to destroy my savings to buy a new car

I figure it's really hard to do that with the amount of cameras around.  Is anyone looking into that?  Store cams, dash cams, red light cameras, etc?

talk to a lawyer. there may be significant options. under our ins scheme, you can file an uninsured motorist claim. you may be able to get compensated for your loss that way. there may be a "bad faith" argument as well if the insurance company denies said claim. Check with a lawyer - it may be the difference between a fair payout and a long gap of nothing.
