Several reports say the Jets plan to speak to Darrell Bevell about offensive coordinator opening. He's been credited for helping Tua quite a bit so I really hope he doesn't go to them.

It's tempting to take an OC gig, but they have no QB and not a ton of offensive talent either. You don't want to be a scapegoat if the GM can't give you what you need to be successful.

He's been an OC forever. I just hope he doesn't go in division.

Bevell, 53, spent 15 consecutive seasons as an NFL offensive coordinator from 2006 to 2021 (he took the 2018 season off). This included stops in Minnesota (2006-10), Seattle (2011-17), Detroit (2019-20), and Jacksonville (2021). In 2022, Bevell served as the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Dolphins.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh and Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich overlapped with Bevell in Seattle, so Bevell does have some familiarity with the current New York staff.

Yes, but it's an upgrade over his current title. Probably much more money as well. It's just a bad landing spot for him.

Bevell announced today that he is declining meetings with the Commanders and Jets. Basically, he is staying at least one more year until much better offers open up. Offers that include teams with quarterbacks and offensive talent.
