I never have.  I am thinking about trying it.

Is Twitch the best service to do it on?

What would I need to do it?

I have livestreamed on XBOX to my friends that just want to watch me play.  That was on ...Twitch, I think.  I never streamed with video of myself, only my screen.

To do it, you need a microphone and an optional camera on yourself if you're on PC.  I believe the software is all native to Twitch, although there may be optional ad-ons to give you flares and stuff.
