I wasn't feeling great yesterday.  I was kind of woozy, so I took a pepto and went to bed.

I woke up today, and stumbled in to take a piss.  Being a man, I spit in the toilet and it was black.  I spit again -- black.  ...and again.

I thought it was dried blood, so I got freaked out.

When I looked in the mirror, my entire mouth was black -- my tongue, my gums and teeth.  It looked like I'd eaten one of those black candies that turns your mouth black.

I brushed my teeth and tongue thoroghly and even then (although much less) I still had some black in my spit.

I did a little research and it turns out it was this:

Apparently, in some people, bismuth (a chemical in Pepto) causes an overgrowth of a black bacteria in the mouth, and can turn your turds jet-black too.  Weird.

My tongue is now back to normal.
