Does anyone on here know what the hell the phonetic alphabet is?

It is a list of 26 words.  Each words starts with a different letter of the alphabet.  This is used a lot by military personnel for codes and special language.  The point of it is to make absolute sure that the proper letters are being repeated / entered / ordered / given.  For example, you wouldn't say "The password is A-B-C".  You would say "The Password is Alpha-Bravo-Charlie".

I love the phonetic alphabet.  Here it is.  Enjoy.  Use it the next time you're screwing around with a walkie-talkie, it sounds cool:

A - Alpha
B - Bravo
C - Charlie
D - Delta
E - Epsilon
F - Foxtrot
G - Golf
H - Hotel
I - India
J - Juliet
K - Kilo
L - Lima
M - Mike
N - November
O - Oscar
P - Papa
Q - Quebec
R - Romeo
S - Sierra
T - Tango
U - Umbrella
V - Victor
W - Whiskey
X - X-ray
Y - Yankee
Z - Zulu

*Note: When I learned the Phonetic Alphabet, this was the official list as of 1994-1997.  Your branch of service may have updated the list since.

E is echo
U is uniform

I've heard both echo and epsilon as well as uniform and umbrella.

But, I've heard echo more than epsilon, but more umbrella than uniform.

You might've, but the official Military Alphabet code is Echo and Uniform.

We learned it as Epsilon and Umbrella, but I'm not surprised if those or any others are different.  Echo I guess makes more sense, but U will always be Umbrella for me.
