Namco Bracket:
Why “Halo: Combat Evolved†shouldn’t win.Gamers had never seen anything like Halo…that is, unless they’d ever used a computer. Essentially a PC shooter stuffed into a console, Halo is criticized for repetitive level design to meet a launch deadline, and doing what’s been done and redone by many computer first-person shooters before it, without offering much innovation.
Why “Double Dragon†shouldn’t win.Let’s face it: Double Dragon was awesome because you got to hit people with bats. That kind of violence is extremely cool to kids, but does it make for a great game 20 years later? It was a simple beat-em’-up concept designed to eat quarters and didn’t provide anything noteworthy in terms of gameplay. After seeing violence in video games taken to entirely new levels, Double Dragon’s beat downs seem tame.
