I've noticed that people seem to have a lot of different things, between seeing what's on my boss',an episode of Tekzilla and a case I'm worked on awhile back...

I don't have room for a nightstand next to my bed,I have a storage head board and using the under dresser from my old waterbed. So Use the top of the headboard like a night stand. If I did you wouldn't be able to open the door...

From most obvious,to a little less obvious....

- I have a 24" computer monitor,My plan was to hook up a tuner card to a P.C. built of my pretty darn good old parts, and use it as my T.V. in the bedroom...I'm lacking the desire,to purchase an operating system,so I'm running ubuntu, and want to pull my hair out.Project on hold...

-1 pair of Comfy feet Miami Dolphins slippers

-a couple of computer fans, from working on someone else computer

-3 Knee braces,and 1 elbow brace

-1 Miami Dolphins orange can koozie

-1 Remington hat that belonged to my brother, Slightly flatten...

- 1 remote control to my P.O.S. Vizio T.V. (in the entertainment center at the foot of my bed)

- box of envelopes

-Various papers stacked...

On my nightstand, I have the following:

An alarm clock/radio
My iPhone charger
An abstract stone sculpture of a howling wolf
A cork coaster (for my bedtime glass o' water)
A golden and marble pyramid
Whatever book I'm currently reading (right now it is Jhegaala, by Steven K. Z. Brust)

Alarm clock w/ phone charger built in.
lamp
wallet
keys
phone
glasses
sometimes my iPad
a pencil and a pen
TV remote
Cable remote

I really should keep nothing there since my baby just grabs at it all the time anyway.

I don't have a nightstand because I'm too indecisive to pick one out. Instead I have a random low stool sitting by my bed, so not a lot can sit on it.

I have:
My Nook
iPhone (though that's usually in my bed)
A glass of water
lip balm
lotion
a big ass book (I'm reading Infinite Jest - that thing is over 1000 pages and it's not one of those short paperbacks. The large one.)
goldfish crackers to eat in the middle of the night

The Ruger 40 is my carry weapon so yes at night when I am home it is on the nightstand next to my bed for easy access.....however I don't leave home without it so it is with me at all times. There are no little kids in my house, my son is 18 and owns his own shotgun. If my nieces or nephews were to come over or my friends kids, which is very rare,  I lock it in the safe. All of the rest of my arsenal is in fact in a gun safe in the closet locked at all times.

Very common to have unlocked guns as long as children don't have access. I don't see issue AZ.

As for my nighstand currently

Alarm clock
empty water glass
bandana
dish I used for a cat treat

When I go to bed my phone will be there

If the question was "in" your nightstand ... would the answers change just a little?  Wink

Not much is on my nightstand.  Just a clock radio in the form of a pirate ship and a small lamp shaped like a lighthouse.
