Despite rumors circulating yesterday the Yankees were in hot pursuit of Kansas City outfielder Reggie Sanders, a team official claimed there have not been detailed talks between the teams since the Royals changed GMs two weeks ago. The Yankees last month rejected an offer of Sanders for top pitching prospect Phil Hughes.

See what the Mets started? Tampa Bay's GM says "I'll trade you Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir" as a joke and the Mets GM accepts it. Now, every GM starts talks with a ridiculous trade proposal.

i didn't hear anything about a joke that became a trade... did it really happen that way?

No, I don't think the Tampa Bay GM was joking when he proposed it. I just said he was because it was such a ridiculous trade that he had to have been either holding in his laughter or crossing his fingers when he proposed it.

You know, like when the Twins GM asked for Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski. No way was he serious when he asked for that, but he got it.
