MVP!

He's not even the MVP of his own team. He might win it because he didn't win it last year(nor did he deserve to statistically), but there are more deserving guys. If the awards voters weren't so stupid, they would give Cy Young and MVP awards to relievers most often. Really, who has meant more to their team this year than Papelbon? Where would Boston be if he wasn't their closer? Would they even be .500 with that bullpen?

But, closers don't get Cy Youngs unless they go perfect or have the year that Eck had in 1990 or 1991. If Mariano didn't beat overrated Colon last year, Papelbon won't win it this year. Not saying it's fair, just saying it's reality.

Mo Vaugh stays in Boston and he's still playing today and knocking on 600 home runs.  I have zero problems comparing those two.

Mo Vaughn would've needed to watch his weight too though, as will Ortiz in the next few years. At 30-33 that weight is more power, at 34-36 it's a liability. Even as a DH knee problems can occur.
