Of course, trading for shitty relievers when they are just as likely to be released would be pretty stupid.

Not always.  If you are interested in that player it at least takes the bidding portion out of it.  You just deal with the trading team.  Usually those players are dealt for journeymen AAA players.  Someone to fill a void.

should have asked this before, but Maine, how much trade value does a person like A.J Burnett, a guy who has great stuff, but hasn't entirely put it together doesn't seem like he would have good value, whats the best the jays can't expect to get for A,J, if they decide to trade him.

AJ has decent trade value. His contract is reasonable and he has potential #1 stuff.  The one thing that everyone will look at is 'how will this guy affect the clubhouse if things go bad?"  He has a track record of being a dick.  I think everyone remembers that AJ and I almost got into a fight when he was here in Portland.  He's just a prick, overall.  Problem is - he's a prick that throws great pitches.
