I think that mischief is more than just an action.  It's behavior, yes, but with mal-intent.  I'm not sure that animals can have that part of it -- it seems too complex.

Truth be told, it was because one of the girls at work is moving and needs to get rid of her cat...she asked if we could take another one.  Hence the subject of pets came up.

Granted, I'm just drawing from my limited work experience, but I find that people don't talk about their dogs a whole lot.  ...maybe in passing.  But cat people seem to be way more into it.  I worked with a girl that had a website for her cats.  Seriously.

Do NOT get a puppy.

You're young and getting married.  Enjoy life before you get a third pet.  It ties you to the house, is costly, time-consuming....don't do it.
