Every time I got to Petco, they only have cats.   I guess we have to either keep checking or go to the real humane society office.

They get pups in every other Day (M,W,F).  They have a VERY quick turn around rate because they usually get all the really young ones that everyone wants.  If you go looking for a dog there, go during the week.  Ripleys litter came in yesterday morning and we were the first to adopt from them and we were there later at night (around 7).  Last week we went on a Saturday and picked out a super cute one and by the time we had finished deciding on Him (less than an hour and a half) he had been adopted out.  If you go on a weekend, get there early if you expect to get a pup.

it's not all petco stores though .. the broward humane society ONLY adopts out of the petco on 441 and glades road in boca ..

they don't have branches at any other petco stores.. their main shelter is on griffin road just west of 95

they have by far the most organized and clean operation .. they also make it easy to adopt and they do a great job .. they also provide free medical care for your dog for 2 weeks after you adopt and they give you a free wellness appointment with the vet as well as rabies shots and all their initial shots

Congrats on your puppy!  I hope you are ready for a lot of work in the next few months.

BTW - My ferret is named Ripley.  Grin

modified to add: I am amused by employees of animal adoption agencies.  They think rare breed dogs are allowed to run around and mate with any other dog.

Wow, That's Cool...My Puppy I got from the humane society....She already had her first round of shots, they gave me a certificate to take to my Vet for free spade,or neutering....All that for $50....But had to Pay for like the first three visits to the Vet,because she had Kennel cough, which all came within the first two weeks....The last time I went to him was when I got her fixed...He over drugged her so bad,she didn't know who I was for three days....(after he kept her for 3 days....) Among other things....My other dog was from a no kill shelter...

He didn't caost me anything, but yet...I didn't get any benefits from it either...(Like free spade or neutering)

Dang Lil B!  They kept your dog for 3 days after a spay and she was still drugged? WTF?  I'd be interested to know who you took her to (PM me) since I lived in Springfield for a bit.  Mine are up and around the same day.  The only reason I keep them overnight is so that they don't overdo it and rip their sutures out.

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! I want to nom nom the little puppy. He's soooo cute.
Name him Coltrane or Thelonious. Monk works too. I like odd people names for animals. I have Giovanni now. My kitties name was Murdock (aka - The Diving Mr. M. (he was gay)).

I LOVE people names for dogs. I think Gio is such a great name for a dog, especially for your dog.

Katie and Fau, that puppy is freakin' adorable. He looks a little like my dog Marley. I've always liked the name Duke for a boy.
