and that's from a week ago...... Roll Eyes
Maybe but our links agree the Lions are not in talks about trading Williams, but they will listen to any offers.
Heck Patriots would listen to any offers for Tom Brady, but that doesn't mean he is up for trade.
Why throw money at him and a draft choice if he is a free agent at the end of the year?
Miami could get him to sign a new contract and then it would make sense, but I do not believe the Dolphins are going to pursue him,at least I haven't heard any rumors out of Miami.
If we had a quality receiver it would open our offense up, imagine how hard it would be to defend the wildcat?

For a second rounder?  Yeah, I'd do it.  For a # 1?  Nah.  Roy Williams is a big, fast receiver in the Andre Johnson / T.O. mold, and I like those receivers.  You work him on the intermediates while Ginn runs sprints all day, and Henne'll be a happy guy for the next 5 - 6 years.  Williams / Gonn / Fasano along with Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown suddenly makes for a pretty stacked group of skill position players.

Let's say we trade for Williams.  He's the obvious choice as our #1 receiver.  Who's #2? Camarillo or Ginn?

See how he does through the season, then make him an offer if we want him.  It makes no sense to give up a draft pick for him only to have to sign him or lose him to free agency after this season.  No single player is going to make a huge difference this season anyway.

$$$$$,and time....is why we trade for him....If we trade for him,He's stuck here....We can see if we want to sign him to a long term deal...Does he cop an attitude with our coaches, what's his work ethic....Does he Fit into out long term plans,Etc,Etc..Will he mentor our younger guy's on the team....And We're not on the hook for the big money part of his contract....We gain the Upside, with little Downside IMO...(long term wise) Wait...Some people would then complain the pick we send awy could produce our next superstar...Blah,Blah,Blah....

If we wait till we get to Free agency....
A.) he might not choose to come to Miami,
B.) We're now in a bidding war where we have less of an advantage.....
C.) Now We have to wait all offseason to see how he gels with the rest of our guys....
D.) Now we're into him for Big money free agent contract if he doesn't work out...

I'm not Even really sold on sending over a 2nd rounder...I'd do a 4th round pick that Could escalate to a 2nd rounder...Say He becomes a Starting WR,and plays 50% of the Snaps the rest of the Season type deal....

Lil B I like alot of what you are saying here, BUT.
Is Miami interested in Williams, as I have not heard any rumors.
Do you believe Detroit would let Williams go for a conditional 4th round draft choice?
I do believe Williams would work out great in Miami and he would add depth to the offense, but I also feel the same about Randy Moss and all the wishing in the world wont make it happen.
You have great plans and now the rest in execution from Miami, I would welcome him with open arms.

Honestly, I think we should just go with what we have. We're 2-0 vs good teams..which no one saw coming. Lets give Ginn a chance to put up or get out. Who knows...Camirillo could turn out to be a stud. Not to mention Fasano. There's next year's draft, as well as free agency. We won't know as well what we have and need if we bring in a big name now.

But, I can also see the positives of bringing him in.

Hey Lil B I thought you like to see this. I wouldn't mind having TJ on the team, he produces and keeps his mouth shut.

Though in-season NFL trades are a rarity, four team executives talked to Yahoo! Sports about players they believe should be dealt prior to the deadline next Tuesday.

The executives agreed that the only teams that should really be cleaning house at this point are the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams. Even though the Houston Texans are 0-4, many observes believe they will rebound and play well. Furthermore, the Texans don’t have many players who should just be dumped, aside from running back Ahman Green.

“And I would only take Green if I was truly desperate,” one of the executive said. “Thank God I’m not in that situation.”

Here’s a list of the top 10 players who should be dealt.

Johnson was limited to 2 yards on 7 carries against the Panthers in Week 5.
(AP Photo/Rick Havner)

1. RB Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs

Comment: “By the time the Chiefs are good again, he’s going to be done. … I don’t understand why they gave him all the money and then they wouldn’t sign Jared Allen. If you’re rebuilding, you don’t do it with a running back who’s going to be burned.” Another executive said Johnson has a reputation around the league as being a “spoiled brat” and “not much of a leader.”

Best potential fits: He’s not a perfect fit in Philadelphia because of the style of the offense, but all of the executives said the Eagles could use him now that Brian Westbrook has broken ribs. Other teams that could use him would be the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.

2. DE Dewayne White Detroit

Comment: “He isn’t a great player, but he’s a good one and he can help any rotation. Plus, you can move him inside from time to time. He probably won’t get more than five or six sacks, but that’s worth it if you’re the right team.” Said another exec: “Try finding a pass rusher at this point of the year.”

Best potential fits: Just about any team except the New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

3. WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Bengals

Comment: “He’s going to be a free agent. He’s going to get paid. The Bengals won’t pay him, which is a joke because he’s one of the few guys on that team you could even begin to call a leader.” Said another executive: “He’d be perfect in Indianapolis, but it won’t happen.”

Best potential fits: Bucs, Jags, Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills.

4. CB Patrick Surtain, Chiefs

Comment: “He’s hurt (shoulder injury) and he has declined, but it’s the same thing as pass rushers; you need cover guys. You can’t get enough of them.”

Best potential fits: Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens.

5. CB Brian Kelly, Lions

Comment: “Same as with Surtain, although Kelly has declined more and he has problems in straight man coverage … not a great player anymore, but they’ll get more for him than he’s really worth.”

Best potential fits: Cardinals, Packers, Saints and Ravens.

6. WR Roy Williams, Lions

Comment: “I think he’ll play harder for some other team.”

Best potential fits: Jags, Bucs, Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings.

7. DT Cory Redding, Lions

Comment: “If I’m the Lions, I clean house starting now. I don’t even wait for a new GM. This guy played hard for a contract and hasn’t done anything since. Again, I think it’s more about Detroit than the player, so I’d take a chance … if he’s motivated, he can rush the passer from the inside.”

Best potential fits: Colts, Eagles, Redskins and Broncos.

Will the Bengals part ways with Johnson, right, or Houshmandzadeh?

8. TE Tony Gonzalez, Chiefs

Comment: “He’s a good guy in the locker room and he takes care of himself. Between the leadership and the fact that he might still be really good in two to three years, it would take a lot for me to deal him and I don’t think anybody is going to offer that much.”

Best potential fits: Jags, Bucs, Vikings and Titans.

9. WR Chad Johnson, Bengals

Comment: “I’m amazed how quiet he has been. Maybe that injury is worse than we thought. You know he wants out and he’s the most gifted receiver in the league. But the injury is an issue.”

Best potential fits: Pats, Cowboys, Vikings, Titans and Jags.

10. DE Antwan Odom, Texans

Comment: “They just signed him as a free agent (in the offseason), so I don’t think he’ll be available. But I think they realize he’s overrated. He’s purely a complementary player.”

Best potential fits: Pats, Jags and Colts.

No to T.J. or Chad Sorry..T.J.  just turned 31....

Sorry I'm still in my Baseball frame of mind...Detroit can keep him the rest of the year, and he walks to free agency (I'm still confused who voided the contract him or the Lions...I'm assuming it's him...) They get a...Shit I lost my choo choo...Conditional pick thing in 2009...Or they take what they can get from some team that wants him this year for a playoff run....(I'm not suggesting we're are making a run to the playoffs!)

I'm very torn if I would or wouldn't...He's 26 or 27...I've seen him listed at 6'2,and Pro football reference has him listed at 6'4" ....The Lions would have to pay the majority of his salary this year...We need a semi Veteran guy to lead this motley bunch...I don't see Wilford, and Hagan on the roster next year (They've barely seen the field so far)

The Down side,Is he gonna be a diva,Is He's only been able to play 1 Full 16 game season...I think he's had 3 seasons where he only started like 12 games a year...(off the top of my head....)

Yeah We've been playing well the past two games, but a Temper tantrum from R.Williams this weekend, and If we lose to Houston...This regime has shown they aren't afraid to show they've made a mistake, and Bring in someone else...See Josh McCowan,Keith Davis,Boomer Grigsby.....

For me, I think this is a special circumstance...His Size,Up side, his generally young age...Is why I thought about it....I was against bringing in A.Boldin,Meshawn Johnson,Chad Johnson..and those guy's because of Contract ,Age,General pain in the asses....(except Boldin)

I also think that Trade between Roy Williams and the Dolphins will be a Quick and dirty type trade....

10 am...There is a rumor the Dolphins are rumored to have interest in Roy Williams....

Noon...The Lions and Dolphins are both denying that the Dolphins have Interest in Roy Williams...

3 Pm...The Lions have agreed to trade Roy Williams...to the Dolphins....

4P.M It's official the Dolphins acquire Roy Williams....

Look I don't think it's gonna happen....I think it could be a smart move.....

Ted Ginn Jr. and a 4th rounder straight up. We need a playmaker on the team, not a guy who can't even got off the line of scrimmage.

Considering our other recievers (except Greg Camarillo) were invisible today, I say make the deal.

Rumor according to ESPn...He was traded to Dallas for a 2nd round pick in 2009,and 2nd rounder in 2010...Too rich for my blood...

But I like my value for him in fantasy just went up at the end of the season when Romo Comes back....
