This topic came up on one of my music sites, so I thought I would ask it here, where musical tastes are varied.

Innocent until proven guilty or proved his guilt by paying off his accuser?
What do you guys think?

I think he did it, but maybe that's just me because I would sell everything I had in this world to prove my innocence if I were accused of it.

Isn't he basically broke for doing just this?

I thought it was for other legal problems.  He paid off the one family to go away.

The two most recent lawsuits I found on the internet were by a company that financed his purchase of the Beatles cataloge for owed money and a breach of contract suit.  Both were settled out of court.

According to this, he claimed he was in debt prior to the child molestation case:

Jackson, whose music career has long been overshadowed by accusations of sex abuse and by media attention on his eccentric lifestyle, was acquitted in June 2005 of all charges in a child molestation trial. But according to testimony during the sensational case, years of extravagant spending left Jackson mired in debt

Next time, I will look this stuff up before I ask a question.  Tongue

I think he's a child molester.

This keeps happening to him.  Part of it is that he's wealthy and a target, sure.  ...but I've heard him say some pretty weird stuff, like he thinks it's appropriate for an adult man to sleep in the same bed with a child that he's not related to.  Also, he's clearly got some problems, and was abused as a kid -- all the signs are there.

I'll just say that if I had kids they would not be allowed anywhere near him.

All that over one little question?  A little defensive today?  I don't pay a shred of attention to Michael Jackson.  I heard he's broke.  Assumed his legal expenses over the charges were to blame.

I getcha.

I think he's guilty as sin, by the way.  He might not have spent his fortune trying to clear his name but he certainly spent a huge amount of it trying to stay out of jail.
