Just like they did with Warner Brothers,Netflix will now delay new releases 28 days from the time they are released on DVD.This article (Copy and pasted from their news release) talks about,in order to get more movies for Watch instantly....

I'm just not sure I buy it, and I feel like it's a little like throwing Blockbuster a life line....I'll debate on keeping my netflix account,I've still got my Blockbuster card....Then there is the Redbox Kiosks, which is probably cheaper....

What do you mean "you're not sure you buy it"?

The watch instantly thing is what sets Netflix apart.  I think that they'd have to do whatever it takes to bulk up that catalog.

I think this has less to do with giving Blockbuster a lifeline and has more to do with the studios wanting more sales and less renting of new releases.

Yeah, the studios want to sell DVDs first.  They are able to do this by dangling the watch instantly stuff and making Netflix jump at it.  They don't really have much to bargain with for Blockbuster.

...doesn't matter much, though -- the DVD rental world is dying, either way.

Sorry, I don't buy...
1.) It necessarily makes their streaming better, unless they're gonna give me the movies that are being held for an extra month on Streaming....The Majority of the movies offered on Streaming, direct to DVD,B movies,Box office Flops,or things I can see on basic cable because they're old...The T.V. shows, I'm not really as impressed with, because sometimes (quite abit actually) it will say Season 3 but only 11 of 15 episodes of that season are streaming.......

2.) Getting more copies of a new release will make it easier for me to get it faster,by the time it becomes available on Netflix, the demand is less...It's not really new,it's been available somewhere else for almost a month.....

I like watch instantly,to a point, I watch a bunch of shit, that I wouldn't watch otherwise...because I'm paying for it,and I'm justifying the $19 a month for Netflix....The no late fees,isn't a selling feature, I've only had 1 maybe 2 at the most in 20 years of renting videogames,and movies....

$19 a month? Which plan is that? I pay $8 or so.

B, I think that the whole point is for Netflix to offer better streaming movies, like you said.  Right now, you have some new stuff, but most of it is either old or B movie quality.

Since Netflix wants to stream better movies, they had to give something in return.

I can see why that would piss people off, but if I had to choose between a full streaming library or day-and-date new releases, I'll choose the former.   I'm not all about seeing stuff the first day of release.

I got 3 out at a time $16.99 plus tax, but I'm gonna at the bare min cut to 2,maybe suspend my account....I only have 3 movies available to me on my queue, the other things are like Discs 2and 3 of of pushing daisies season two the complete series of Life on mars 4 discs....Everything else is yet to be released....

I don't go to the movies, the last two movies I saw in the movie theater, the Spiderwick Chronicles, before that Saving Private Ryan, maybe Scream 1....I wait till they come out on DVD before I see them...and even then Most of the time, I'm glad I didn't spend 8-10 bucks to see them at the theater

I only do 1 movie at a time and find that I don't even have time for that.

I was just thinking today that I should diminish my plan.  I'm on the 3 per month plan right now.  I could drop down to 1, but my wife likes to have her own list.
