Local Dolphins MEDIA shake-up

Big O announced he was leaving WQAM, so WQAM fired him and told him they didn't want him to work his final 2 weeks

Ethan Skolnick leaving the Sun-Sentinel and going to the Palm Beach Post

I feel the local media has done a lot of good work this offseason covering the Fins. Getting info out and not sugar coating anything. Always intersting to see guy shuffling around

I appreciate the fact that there is ANY media coverage, but I can't really say I am at all impressed with any of the media coverage so any shake up is more of a perk up for me than a downer.

My problem isn't with the quantity or even the orientation of the reporting.  I just think it lacks energy and quality analysis.  When you have a front office that is so closed door and misleading with words, you have to look beyond the obvious and develop an understanding of what you can actually see with your own eyes.  If it is your job to do this kind of work, I think you should be better at it than me with my little bit of spare time.

I will on the other hand give them credit for watching the wires closely and reporting player mishaps and roster changes quickly.

Once the Miami Heat start up in a month or so, the Dolphins become the "B" team in that city anyway.  Fair or unfair its just the way its gonna be. The "STAR" power on the Heat will get all the headlines

As for the shake-up. Pretty disappointed with what QAM has done as of late. I know they're trying to compete with 790 hard, but damn, letting go of some good shows for the swill that is Michael Irvin and Gino Toretta? Unless you're a hardcore Hurricanes fan... Terrible, coma inducing. They did good when the old farts took off, but QAM has become the Redskins of sports talk... pffff

790's better anyway.

To some extent that is inevidable.  But the extent is up to the Dolphins.  If the fish are 2-3 they will be pretty much ignored.  If they are 5-0, they will be on the headline on the sports section.

^ Hoodie, I don't know if you live down here or not, but this place is ELECTRIC for the HEAT right now.

There is a buzz about the HEAT that I think will surpass the Dolphins, probably because the Fins don't have Star Power, even if they're winning.  400 level (nosebleed) tickets to Heat/Lakers are selling for $150.  That's Face Value.  It's going to be an absolute circus, and the media is going to be all over it.

I am an out of towner so I listen to these stations online. I dont' know how anyone listens to 790...tht is a god awful station. LeBatard is OK, the rest suck. WQAM is good. Rose is OK, Irvin and surprised me he is ok. Big O was awesome!! And I am a Sid fan. Losing BIG O hurts because he was there #1 Dolphins guy. He had all the scoops. I now listen to WFTL online sometimes in the morning with Armando Salugaero. He has a new morning show......not bad and he has all the dirt on the Fins.
