Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

So what can we remember from the week that was:
* Though there was a game commerating the loss of the KHL Lokomotiv players coaches and staff to a plane crash in Russia, the most memorable part of the game was the Asham fight "celebration" that he later apologized for stating he was out of character (yet he is the team enforcer, hm...), I can't really remember who won that game.... oh yeah it was Washington. Oh well.
* Washington despite some early screw-ups in games still remain unbeaten in the league (and they should have lost games in my opinion)
* The Rangers can win without power-play goals (only team currently O-fer on the PP)
* The Blues got hit early with the terrible injury bugs (just too many to name off the top of my head) and may have a really tough time making the cut, though too early to tell, and
* We are still waiting for the Blue Jackets to get a win (0-5-1 in 6 games; -8 G/D). They had such high expectations the start of the season.

That being said, here is week 2 of the "Super 16" if the playoffs started today:

* Statistics courtesy of NHL.com
EASTERN CONFERENCE
1. Washington Capitals (10 pts; 5-0-0; +7 G/D; Leads South East Division) - Up 2 spots from last week
2. Pittsburgh Penguins (10 pts; 4-2-2; +3 G/D; Leads Atlantic Division) - Down 1 spot
3. Toronto Maple Leafs (9 pts; 4-0-1; +4 G/D; Leads North East Division) - Up 2 spots
4. Philadelphia Flyers (9 pts; 4-0-4; +9 G/D) Didn't move
5. Buffalo Sabres (8 pts; 4-1-0; +7 G/D) Down 3 spots
6. Carolina Hurricanes (7 pts; 3-2-1; -2 G/D) - Up 1 spot
7. NY Islanders (6 pts; 3-1-0; +5 G/D) - *** New to the list ***
8. New Jersey Devils (6 pts; 3-1-0; +1 G/D) - *** New to the list ***

Teams that fell out: Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers

So Matchups would be: Capitals v Devils; Penguins v Islanders; Leafs v Hurricanes; Flyers v Sabres

WESTERN CONFERENCE
1. Dallas Stars (10 pts; 5-1-0; +3 G/D; leads Pacific Division) - Up 1 spot
2. Colorado Avalanche (10 pts; 5-1-0; +7 G/D; leads North West Division) - Up 1 spot
3. Detroit Red Wings (8 pts; 4-0-0; +8 G/D; leads Central Division) - Down 2 spots
4. Anaheim Ducks (8 pts; 4-1-0; +2 G/D) - *** New to the list ***   Shocked
5. Chicago Blackhawks (7 pts; 3-1-1; +5 G/D) - *** New to the list ***  Shocked
6. LA Kings (7 pts; 3-1-1; +4 G/D) - ***New to the list ***  Shocked
7. Minnesota Wild (6 pts; 2-2-2; -2 G/D) - Down 2 spots
8. Phoenix Coyotes (5 pts; 2-2-1; -1 G/D) *** New to the list ***  Shocked

Wow, 4 teams out... they are:
Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, SJ Sharks and Nashville Predators

Match-ups look like: Stars v Coyotes, Avalanche v Wild, Wings v Kings, Ducks v Blackhawks

Looking forward to another good week and attending a Panther game soon too.

I hope the Hurricanes do something this year.  I've watched them on local tv so I'm excited that they'd be in the playoff picture.  That said there's also a good 60 games and change to go so I'm not going to get too amped up just yet.
