The nightmare continues as a fan. News, and logo "leaks" are circulating about the change. I don't know what's going on in this town, but this now makes 3 out of 4 of my favorite teams ruining their logos. I don't care that the current (soon to be old) logo was "busy". It was classic, professional looking, it was the Florida Panthers. One of the best logos IMO in the league. It is being reduced to a logo that belongs on the side of a high school.

God, I sound like that old man.  But honestly I don't mind change. There are plenty of examples I can cite of awesome logo changes. There is something in the water down here in South Florida that's blocking these people from coming up with something cool and unique. Or you know, leave it the F alone. This simple clip-art is just sad. Looks like I'm heading to Ft. Lauderdale and picking up some "throwbacks" at the BB&T center this Saturday at their clearance sale.  Grin

Wondering what fellow Panthers fan, Brian, thinks...

Dear God I hope they leave the Heat alone... Cheesy

I have to say that I see no difference between the first two logos in your timeline. As for this one, it seems more like a shoulder patch than a main logo. The story is this logo was selected because the owner was in the 101st Airborn and this is made to resemble it.

Not a Panthers fan but it looks like a downgrade to me. As with Phish ... I don't see the first change so I have no issue with it.

I really don't know why franchises have such a hard time with things like this. Don't they test the new logos before they go live with them?

Our women's professional soccer team has a horrible logo. Even the women wearing it do not like it. I have to think it really was an afterthought.

^^^ With a name like the Pride it doesn't lend itself with much to work with logo wise so I guess they just took one of the recognizable landmarks from around the city. Just be glad it isn't a big Minnie Mouse head.

Pride is a group of Lions and Orlando City is the lions. "A pride of lions consists of related females and offspring and a small number of adult males." They went with a play on words and a goofy drawing of a fountain in Orlando. I'd say there are plenty of options better than that.

I know exactly about the word play. I just don't think it lends itself well to a logo.

If the ownership group is the same, they should have gone with the European model and kept the name of the womens soccer team as Orlando City FC .. teams like arsenal and liverpool do that where they have mens and womens teams .. and they wear the same uniforms and have the same logos and all that

I like the new Panthers logo.  I've never really loved the one one.  Too busy.

Their Alt logo of the stick and palm tree was cool, though.

I am by no means a Panther's fan, but the new logo looks worlds better than the old one.

Seems like many people who like the new one think the old too detailed and busy. Oddly that's something I liked about it.

The more I see this new Panthers logo, the more I love it.

Simple, straightforward design, clear image, good use of team colors, can go on hats, shirts, jerseys, etc.

Perfect.

I see Sarabi or maybe Nala.. just really pissed off.

Yes, my little one has been watching a lot of The Lion King and The Lion Guard.

But that was the first thing I saw when I saw the logo. A ticked off lion from Disney.

Agreed. It looks like they just darkened the blue from the first to second, no real change. And wow, I had never seen that logo CF, that is just bad. Seriously couldn't have created a logo of a lion...  Roll Eyes

Damn, that's true, it does look like it.   Cheesy

Yeah, here's hoping they trash it one day. Too cookie cutter, looks like a stencil for basic drawing. Terrible, just like the Dolphins and Marlins.

I couldn't be more pissed with the Panthers.

Portland, ME has had an AHL team for 40 years.  The last handful of years the Pirates have been the Panthers affiliate.

A couple weeks ago the AHL approved the sale and move of the team from Portland to Springfield, MA (who just lost their team to a franchise in Vegas, I think).

The Panthers had absolutely nothing to do with this.  But when have I been known to be a completely rational human being?
