My Mom's Birthday is tomorrow, and It's really a big deal for her to get a Birthday card. It's a top 3 important thing about her Birthday, and something that makes my Mom seethe with angry at my 2 sisters...Really? call me when you know I'm at work, and not even a card?

I find it to be Less, and less popular with the under 40 crowd, yet most of the Cards seem to be written by 25 year olds. When I buy a card I see a lot of cards with very bland humor, fart, drinking,a lot of selfie, facebook, type ones.I also see a ton of these over the top long winded novels.

Do you Send Birthday cards?

What are your feelings on receiving them?

I try to barely acknowledge my Birthday, and really don't have an opinion on getting cards.

I absolutely hate shopping for them though.

I don't mind giving someone one. It is a nice feeling of receiving one but it only lasts briefly. I usually set it aside and it is in the trash within two days.

I would prefer not to receive them, although I appreciate that someone else cared enough to get me one.  I hate buying or giving them.  It just feels like a colossal waste of money for something I'm going to throw in the trash in 10 minutes.  I especially don't like ones that are genuine and heartfelt, but it's just how some people choose to express themselves.

As I get older, I've softened a bit on receiving them.  I used to really hate it.  Save your $5.  But now, there's an irony in getting a childish card (like Star Wars or Star Trek) to a middle aged dude.  I guess that's worth something.

My Mom was a big card person for all occasions.  When she was up in years I had to chauffer her to do her shopping and she would always be buying cards (Thanksgiving, Valentines, Easter, Father's day, etc. etc.).  After she died a few years ago I ended up with probably 150 different cards for all occasions; stored aware in about 10 different locations in the house.  Needless to say if I have a need for a Halloween card or a get well card there is a ready supply sitting in a box.

I am trying to remember the last time I either got a birthday card...or gave one to someone else.

It's been a long time, that's for sure.
