What exactly did he say that wasn’t politically correct?  He said he was disappointed with not playing.  He didn’t say the coaching staff made the wrong decision.  He didn’t say Tau wasn’t ready or inferior.  He didn’t demand a trade.  He didn’t “Favre” and say he wouldn’t mentor or help Tau.  Anyone who begrudges Fitz for being disappointed is selfish.  Even Tau understands why Fitz is disappointed.

This is sound and fury over nothing.
Okay troll, you know it's Tua not Tau

I phrased my point poorly.  What I should have said was that Fitz should have said the "politically correct thing" which would have been that Tua wasn't taken #5 overall in order to be a backup QB and that he knew that Tua's day was coming and even though he was disappointed because he has played well and felt that he should still be the starter, he understands that he was a placeholder since draft day and Flores is who makes those decisions and he will support Tua and help to prepare him as best he can every week to put the team in position to win every week.   Even if it was total bullshit and he didn't mean a single word of it, that would have been the proper response to a reporter.  Reporters are almost as sleazy as politicians and they try to bait the people they are interviewing into any little sound bite that they can draft an "attention grabbing" story out of.

That is pretty much what he said.  The headline implies he said something different.

I finally got around to listening to his comments in their entirety (which I should have done before I posted in the first place).   You are right and I was wrong.  After listening to the full interview, it was clear that the title of the article and the main part of the article left out what Fitz said about being happy for Tua, supporting him, etc.  Lesson learned on my part about making assumptions on articles without listening to the entirety of an interview.

Fitzpatrick gets zero blame for this.  It's 100% on Flores.

Flores studied under BB

He must have known from Super Bowl 52 that benching good players before big games works out very well  Roll Eyes

I get that he was upset, every player in the NFL should be upset if they are not starting at their position on a team. That's why they practice put the time in and train. They want to start in this league.

I think they caught him a bad time, the day after the call, the news that was leaked.  I can see why he was frustrated

Now, having said all of that, he knew this day was coming.  He has said all the right things in the past.  Knowing he was a placeholder, a mentor to Tua, etc

I don't read too much into this move, don't think it divides the locker room IMO.  I think MIA wants to unwrap the present they got on Christmas Day and have been waiting 6-8 weeks to open it.  I think the other players and fans do too.  You got to know what you have in this kid

And let's now act like we're sitting down Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees here.  Fitzy's ceiling is 8-9 wins at best.  Does that 9-7 record get you a playoff spot? Does that playoff spot get your dick knocked in the dirt on Wild Card weekend?  Probably does, and then your drafting 22nd or 23rd (Yes, I know about HOU's 1st round pick) and you still haven't seen Tau in action.

If Tua falls completely on his face, you can at least parlay those 2 - 1st rounds for something you might see in The Golden Hair boy from Clempson.  For the record, I'm not sold on the kid at all.

But, I think Tua will actually have some great moments AND not some not so great momments.  But we have to see what this kid can do.

I don't think that Fitzy is burying Tua in a hole or even said anything negative or damaging to anyone at all. His reaction to being replaced, even though he knew it was going to happen, was normal, human, and honest. His statement on being benched is totally innocuous and doesn't take anything away from him as far as being a good guy a great teammate and leader. If what he said makes Tua crumble, the I say tank for Trevor.

Here here Stinky. I guess some people here would rather our  QB veteran roll over and play dead with no fight.

I just listened to him talk about it and he sounded reasonably disappointed, but wasn't making a stink or anything that was unsupportive.

It's almost like he realized it was inevitable but sucks for him that now is the time.
