He seems to be getting better every year so Miami is banking on that continuing. I don't know yet if this starts next season or if we redid his rookie deal and it starts now. Hopefully, starts next year.

Good.  He may not be flashy, but he has a nose for the ball and is always around to make the tackle.  He has also done well as a defensive leader since his rookie year.

From what I read, it's an extension, so he'll finish out his rookie contract this year and then the new contract starts the following year.  After that, it's more like a 2 year deal with a 3rd year option.

That sounds good. I'm not familiar with the money he got compared to his position elsewhere, but it seems like a reasonable deal. Have to start locking in a few of these guys while we can, don't want to wait until they hit free agency and start using franchise tags.
