This is what scares me about Tua and the Dolphins

The biggest problem with those statistics is the passing efficiency (YPA) on throws under 2.5 seconds.  You wouldn't find that for the league's better QBs, and it's the primary reason for the offense's inadequacy.  That doesn't necessarily mean Tua is to blame (although he might be, at least in part), but it's certainly a problem with regard to fielding an adequate offense.

I think the stats on the over 2.5 sec throws is also pretty alarmingly bad especially when compared to the under 2.5 sec throws. Certainly any QB is going to be better with the under 2.5 sec throws, but this much of a disparity is a problem.

It's possible he is getting so used to dumping the ball off before 2.5 seconds that he is struggling when he actually has the time. He is throwing the ball under 2.5 more than twice the amount than over 2.5 seconds. I don't know the league numbers and if that's actually common, but blindly guessing I wouldn't think so.

That's why the YPA during that time period (< 2.5 seconds) is so problematic.  If passes of that duration after the snap are predominating in your passing game to that degree, then you somehow need to achieve far better efficiency with them.  You better have Tyreek Hills (for example) all over the field who can catch shorter passes and evade defenders and get more YAC than is normal in the league, and you better have quite the high completion percentage on those passes.

It might be more telling to get depth-of-throw stats instead of time-to-throw. On how many of those 2.5s + throws was he running for his life? The time alone doesn't really tell us what happened on the plays, not even in aggregate.
